Heading into the draft, this team screams 2006 to me

 RR>John Fox, Hurney 2.0>Hurney Beta ,Norv> Henning, Cam> Delhomme, DL 2018>DL 2006, LBs 2018>LBs 2006, and TE 2018 > TE 2006 (really didn't use).

I'd say the Olines are a wash.

On the flip side, the 2006 WR's, RB's and Secondary were better.

We've spent money on WR's and Secondary this year.  Right now, even before the draft, I like our odds better...few are predicting us to do as bad as  8-8 like 2006.  It would take a bunch of injuries to end up 8-8.

That offensive line was fuging stacked, and whatever Gross got from people at SI says nothing about my original point.

Kuechly won roty.....after beason was traded and he switched positions.

Beason was a stud....after morgan went down and he moved inside.

like...do you remember what happened those seasons? or do you think hurney drafted two MLB just assuming the players already on the team were about to fall apart

Why are you trying to make it sound like Kuechly and Beason wasted their rookie years playing out of position? Morgan played 3 games during Beason's rookie year and Beason played like 4 games during Kuechly's rookie year.

Beason wasn't traded until the next year.

And it was very obvious that Beason and Kuechly were drafted because their predecessors were falling apart. You act like you weren't the biggest idiot on the board back then too. You were here for the discussions.

Fear of the past will take you down a dark path. And this OP is proof positive of that.

For a Football Forum, with all the testosterone that comes with that. You sure can smell the fear coming from a whole lot of folks.

Man up. Grow a pair. Quit living in the past. Judge this team for what it is. A team that made the Playoffs last year. A team that improved slightly during FA. And a team that with a couple really good draft picks added, can compete with anyone.

In 2006 we didn't have Smith in our first two games, and in the opener we lost our Center, our LT and our MLB for the season.  That team still hung around at .500 or above until we lost Delhomme to a thumb injury and had to rely on Weinke to close out the season.  That was the year that we ran Williams in the wildcat to beat the Falcons, but even though Delhomme was able to return in the last week, the damage to our season was done and we finished 8-8.

If this team loses Keuchly and both Kalil's on opening day, and has to have a backup QB play instead of Cam in December, then I don't think 8-8 is a pessimistic stretch at all.  But if we're reasonably healthy all year, we're going to make some noise.

I think this team is closer to the 2015 team than the 2006 team. But then again, I am not a negative Nancy who only looks at the negative side of everything, and if there is no negative, by God we will create one.

Yet another post that shows just how far down this site has fallen. I think It is time to take a break from this place. I am just so tired of all of the negative crap that permeates this board. It has become exhausting just to read the threads that are posted here.

I hope everyone has a great draft, and I may see you when training camp rolls around, but I am done. Peace out.
