Is Munnerlyn gone?

Had some weird moments last year, wasn't happy with playing time, yada yada.

 

Could save some coin by cutting him. Lots of nickels on the roster now.

 

Any point in keeping him around?

Yes, he should be gone. Because I believe it was Josh Norman that mentioned when he was coming up, Captain did not mentor him at all. Maybe he has changed, but how will he deal with Donte Jackson and Corn Elder trying to take his spot?

I thought that by cutting captain it would go against the team cap and save nothing?

One of the things that went fairly unnoticed is the atrocious contract Gettleman gave him. Can’t cut him for any financial benefit until next year. His entire 18 salary is guaranteed. Long story Short cost to 6.4 Million to cut him vs his current hit of 3.9

I doubt Corn or Sanchez is better than him. Depends on the Cap saving if there is any?

He acts like a bitch. I agree we didn’t use him enough after watching Shaq 3 steps behind every receiver he was covering all season, but Munnerlyn acts like his role and playing time should be a given.

Captain did not lived up to expectations and we had one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. I’d rather roll with Corn and Jackson.

We can save about 1.3 million if we designate him as a post June 1 cut. There will still be 2 million in dead money...but it might be worth it considering his attitude and constant complaining.

And extra roster spot. That may be more important this year with so many development guys.
