This is gonna be a fun thread where people push their personal aggendas on why a dude quit

I'm less concerned with why he quit (probably will turn out to be no big deal) than I am with who steps into his role.

Looking back at an old candidate list...

Ray Horton is still available.

There's also former Bills DC Dennis Thurman.

Our old buddy Hitman Harris is assistant DB Coach with the Chargers right now.

Sam Garnes is a guy that coached here on special teams once but he was fired from an assistant secondary job in Chicago.

Guys with Rivera connections include Al Harris (former Packers corner, Chiefs Assistant DB Coach) and Tim Hauck (Eagles Assistant DB Coach).

I highly highly doubt it's related to our draft at all. Though it is kinda fun to tie Hurney in with this because why not...

Seriously though, I hope everything's okay with him and he found a better opportunity rather than having some kind of personal issue. Thanks for your time here Curtis, 2015 was a great year for our secondary.

For @Jangler

Keep in mind many times coaches are allowed to resign before they are poo canned.

Doesn't really make sense to fire a guy for coaching reasons after you had him involved in the draft process the entire offseason.

Doesn't really make sense to fire a GM one week before training camp, but somehow we found a way.

Yeah I am too

But this is the huddle that discussion will burn out fast and be replaced with "our draft picks suck."

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
