Whitworth and Vollmer would significantly help our line. If DG really wants to stay true to his word that big men allow you to compete, he would go after both. It's time to take the protection of Cam seriously.

Props, KK agreed back then.

Folks realize it takes 2 parties to agree to a contract right? Nothing guarantees Whitworth wanted to play here.

No no no fug Dave he should have kidnapped his wife and not released her till he signed.

Not sure why people have a hard time understanding this.

But it’s just so satisfying to bitch and complain. And let’s be honest, if the Rams didn’t have an amazing season he would not have been on that list.

Who says he would've signed here even if we made him an offer? We could make a thread for dozens of players we didn't sign every year. Silly.

But we could have signed him and didn’t, fug the fact that there are 31 other teams then us in the nfl or the fact that the Rams at the time of his signing had twice the cap space we did, or that he turned down a contact in Cincinnati his long term home to go for a final big pay day.

yeah fug Dave Gettleman!!

If I’m correct, Whitworth signed a bigger contract than our bust Kalil. We weren’t gonna get him.

And I agree above. I mean there are at least 4 good safeties right now that I know of that are still on the market.

It averaged to about $150k difference/year. They are structured quite differently. Whitworth would have hurt us a lot in the short term with cap but he would have fixed one of our biggest holes we have had for years and years. Kalil doesn't hurt our cap that much YET but he is killing us on the field.

i'm just glad we've got hurney that's fixed every little deficiency we have on the team. am i right?

little too heavy on the sarcasm?

At least he tried to do what he could. Gentleman, low key, fuged us at the LT spot with an absolutely terrible contract.

I wanted Whitworth too. But he just got a better deal. And blame Ryan Kalil

Oh! So this is the subject where we can’t complain? Coming from you that’s priceless.

Find any report, anywhere, that has us in contact with Whitworth, or any other LT for that matter. Why would a country boy want to suddenly go to LA. We had plenty of cap to make this work. We have already paid Kalil 24M to suck. Whitworth won’t have made that until next year. You really think Whitworth would have turned down 10M less guaranteed to play with a team that hadn’t seen the playoffs in forever?

There is no, and never will be an excuse for this. When the entire league is laughing at you,, something is off. And this isn’t hindsight. I made my feelings known many times before the signing. Then I lost it on here when it happened and was roundly chastised because I should give him a chance...LOL. Please look up the thread. Sounds a lot like this drivel

Only thing we know now is that Matt Kalil is in the top 80 atleast.  Other NFL players respect the hell out of him, even 1 guy gave him a nickname, speedbump for how he slows down the other teams speed rushers.  Glad to see Matt Kalil getting the credit he deserves.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
