Tepper is the guy: Love it or hate it?

I’m happy JR is gone, as I’ve been toting the he’s not a very good owner for years. I remember when you couldn’t say anything bad about him around here. Tepper kind of scares me, though. Don’t know much about him, but he comes off as a frugal, jack a**. I’m going to give him a chance (really have no choice), and as for do I love it or hate it; I’m fine with it. Cautiously optimistic.

I'll take a wait and see attitude. I believe winning should take precedence over loyalty and "yes" men. I believe that "what can you do for me now" should be the GM's guiding principle. Let'em go early while you can get something of value over holding onto the fans favorites must be in the back of a GM's mind.  That said I will not support a team that places winning so high that outlaws (Curruth), juveniles (Gronk), prima donnas (Dez), psychopaths (Hardy), and dumbasses (OBJ) that don't realize a drug induced idiocy isn't worth their career, become the norm.

Not happy about Tepper but hope he changes my mind.  He was picked from the beginning by the NFL ...he is one of them and they wanted to keep things in the family.  That concerns me.  I do not think the "brass balls" thing is is a good thing. The guy has no connection to the Carolinas.

Again...I hope Tepper becomes a great owner and I hope that I will love that he owns the Panthers. But that is not how I feel today.  I think he has some PR work to do.

I have no opinion, he's in a world I can't be a part of. He is now head of the Panthers family and I will support him for that. We'll see how his press conference goes. The positive is that there will be change and the only direction I see is up. Make it fun for the fans again. Win. I am thankful that it's done before training camp but, if rumors prove to be true, I am really pissed that the league got in the middle of it.

For those worried about an absentee owner, there are quite a few sports franchises owned by people that don't live in that city.

Cautionary optimism. If he is like Johnson with jets and Snyder of the Redskins thinking money will fix a team then we are screwed. If he is like Kraft and Rooney then we will be good.

I hope he runs it like a business first family second that would help. But if he meddles like Jerry Jones and not hire the right people we are screwed.

Best part no more Richardson.

Theres no way hed want to part with cam. Having a superstar on your team means more for your bottom line than anything. If he keeps the team in carolina (or moves to virginia for my selfish purposes [which 100% will never happen]) then im good with it.

Cam has 2 years to show he can play in the pocket with accuracy and touch. We aren't going to pay 30 million a year to a quarterback in his 30s who is a running quarterback who can throw the ball. He like everyone else knows he needs to transition to a pocket passer who is mobile for his long term health. He can't keep taking a beating like he does.

Any reporting about the minority ownership?

Obviously Tepper is "vetted" and I have no doubt he has deep pockets.... now.  But anyone else worried that our new owner's worth depends for the most part on the health of the stock market?  I mean, regardless of the economy people are going to eat.  JR's wealth, while not "old money" was definitely more "recession proof" than buying Bank of America stock at $3 and trading it for a $4 billion profit later.

    • Teams do some super stupid stuff with mid-fairly good QBs. I think they are just absolutely terrified they will be stuck with a QB that is not the quality of the QB they have now, even if its someone like Daniel Jones. Lots of trash QBs go in the first round. I encourage you to take a look at the sad, sad list of first round QBs in the last 15 years.
    • No, it will be a raw 6'7" 17-year-old European who just played basketball for the first time in March and who the idiot GM "had first on our board." He'll play the whole G-League season, get in 42 games for the Hornets and average 1.1 ppg on 35% shooting. Been there, seen that.
    • We missed on Burns at his peak value. That’s the problem with trading for picks 2-3 years away (which people were convinced the Rams would suck by now and these would be higher picks btw). Each year away the pick is the further in value it drops. Fitt was clearly hired based on turning us around quickly. It’s one of the many reasons tanking isn’t really a thing as our player JJ is telling you in this original article. It would take the whole organization from the owners down admitting they aren’t winning soon with Burns and picks 2-3 years away having more value because that’s when we are still rebuilding. It would only make sense if Fitt had a longer leash and would more than likely be the ones making these picks anyway which you wouldn’t want. The question is would you rather have those Rams picks with the strong possibility of Fitt still being here or would you rather Fitt try to “win now” like he did and expedite his firing? Altering the timeline would affect more than just the Rams picks.
