The Richardson Rule

Mr. Scot

I would have sworn that the op claimed months ago while all this stuff was still ongoing, that the NFL already did have a ban on non disclosure agreements and that JR and the Panthers were in big trouble because they broke that NFL rule.  Now come to find out there isn't such a rule.  So much for taking the football historians word as anything but just another opinion.

Totally wrong.

The NFL has a rule that NDAs have to be reported to the league office. In fact, Mary Jo White's findings specifically address that this rule was broken.

No one ever said NDAs were banned. Rodrigue is now saying they should be.

Bullshit.

There are so many incidents every year of players, and really anyone that holds any amount of celebrity status, getting hit up for money by accusers it would make most people’s heads spin. NDA’s and payoffs happen constantly in the NFL and the majority of the time it’s guys just paying to make people go away even though they did nothing wrong. They do it for reasons that should be painfully obvious in today’s society, even the mere appearance of impropriety or an accusation is enough to destroy a man’s entire career. It’s also far cheaper to make payouts than to pay legal fees and likely end up having to come to an agreement where they pay anyways except now the world and media are involved as well as the lawyers.

Hell, just take Jameis Winston’s recent case as an example. There is no proof, no evidence, no real case outside of a he said/she said, but Jameis is now one step away from potentially losing his entire career and everyone is vilifying him. I think the guy is probably a scum bag and at the very least he is an absolute MORON, but truth be told, there is no proof anywhere outside of constant accusations being made against him.

What if someone wanted to come out and accuse Luke or Cam of sexual assault tomorrow just to pry money from them. We would all like to think they could fight it but do they really want the accusations in the media and the distractions during the season?? Or would they rather just be able to make it go away and shut up an annoyance!?

Who is going to blame the women, and probably some men, for taking payouts and being totally willing to sign NDA’s when they claim that they’ve been assaulted, raped or otherwise tormented. If they are truly worried about others why aren’t they going to the cops or making issues public? Why are they cool letting it happen to others for a few bucks of compensation?? What about the number of fake accusations and punishment for those individuals??  You want to make some social justice stance over what Jerry did but this sword cuts in many directions and it’s not as black and white as most want to think it is.

You either have to protect all parties involved or you have to leave it be and understand that it’s just a necessary evil. End of story.

Start investigating this guy first

Not if you keep talking about him... You've started dozens of JR threads this offseason. I have posted exactly zero.

This is a prime example of why I don’t come back here on this site as often as I did last year.

Too many posters here spewing nothing but trash while contributing little to the site overall and acting proud of it.

Scot’s been one of the more diligent guys lately around here and contributing plenty of solid analysis and posts on the Panthers ownership and situation in general.

But there’ll always be guys like you and others who find nothing better to do but bash any poster who’s trying to start some good discussion or post.

I mean, for everyone that seemingly hates my posts, at least you’ve basically won and led me to have little interest in making any posts like I’ve done in the past.

You got called out for plagiarizing pretty much everything you post. Don't cry about it now.

This place doesn't exist to fall for BS just because its wordy or praise people for posting links we all read already.

How would the NFL remove a legal concept other than with a fine such as this? How do they take precedence over actual law?

Just like any other organization can set rules you have to follow if you don't want to be kicked out.

There's no constitutional right to own an NFL team.

So you think the women are lying until there is proof?   Do you know how literally impossible it is to prove sexual harassment?  What does that evidence look like?  The only way to determine it in most cases is to investigate the office to see if someone will confirm a story or they can uncover a pattern of behavior.  Still, anyone who thinks they know what happened in an office they were never in based on news reports and snips of information is not informed and not entitled to an opinion.  But this is America, and people have first amendment rights, right?   Even if the topic is something they know nothing about.  Informed opinions are the best opinions.

Please excuse this if you have read the investigation report or did the investigation.  If not,  you are basically taking one side and defending it without facts or evidence of any kind--where could you have learned that?

Scot move on Jesus Christ dude.

What are you talking about? I know you’re one of the few sociopaths on these boards who still support this creep, but in what world does he need to move on when the biggest newspaper in charotte literally just wrote the article.

Should people move on from their 28-3 jokes since it happened over a year ago? How come I don’t see you showing the same anger at people bringing that up? Jerry Richardson is a trash bag human being who should continuously be reminded of the awful things he did. The coward still hasn’t apologized. You are delusional if you think everyone should just move on.

Here's the thing about this particular case...

The investigator went into this situation knowing that the four people most directly involved couldn't talk about it. That's like asking a prosecutor to go to trial on a case where all the main witnesses aren't going to testify. And it's not like sexual harassment leaves physical evidence either.

Yet even with such a huge handicap, she still found enough evidence to show that not only did he do the things we already knew about, he actually did even more.

So knowing that she was able to find strong evidence for all this even without the main parties being able to cooperate, I would say there can be little to no doubt whatsoever that Jerry Richardson is guilty of everything he was accused of, and plenty of other things as well.

There is no defending him at this point. It's useless to even try.
