What are your Top 5 Movies All Time?

What are your Top movies all time?

Mine:

1. Alien

2. Star Wars

3. Goodfellas

4. Shawshank Redemption

5. The Thing

For me these movies had the biggest impact...The Exorcist maybe had the largest impact but wasn't my favorite...that movie (saw it at age 7) almost fuggin destroyed my mind.  Scariest shet ever, but again not  top 5 for me.  If you are wondering how I saw Alien, Exorcist at such a young age say hello to HBO...it was new back then but damn loved it.  Also, saw The Shining in the theater, wasn't scary at all at the time.  Phantasm is another one that had me fuggin terrified.

Greatest sequel has to be Empire Strikes Back with Aliens right up there for me.  Rocky 2 was pretty fuggin amazing too.

Greatest old as hell movie is King Kong...that one is amazing for it's time.  Frankenstein is really close and damn near perfection.

Most obscure movie I have seen in a theater: Laserblast - actually liked it too.  Also At Earths Core at the drive in...lol.

1) Cloud Atlas (2012)
2) Casablanca (1942)
3) Gone With the Wind (1939)
4) Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)
5) The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

The top two are pretty well set for me.  There are really about twelve films after that though that can go in almost any order depending on when you ask me.

You mentioned best sequel.  It is The Godfather Part II and it is not even close.  I love Aliens, which you mentioned, and it is better than any other ever made, but this is just a different level thing going on.

The Matrix

Terminator 2

Interstellar

Spotlight

The Ninth Gate

These are my top 5 favorite. Not necessarily the greatest of all time. If you want the top 5 of all time I'd probably pick 5 out of the top 15 on IMDB.

Honorable mention goes to The Big Short.

Update: If I had to pick the 5 greatest of all time out of IMDB's top 15...

The Shawshank Redemption

The Godfather Part 1

Empire Strikes Back

Dark Knight

Forrest Gump

Damn honestly I concur on your first 3.

Top 5 No Particular Order

1. Gladiator

2. Interstellar

3. The Matrix

4. The Dark Knight Rises - I have this over TDK because I think it is probably the greatest ending to a trilogy there is. The soundtrack was dope and it's the first time we see Batman truly lose

5. Star Wars ( Right now probably ROTJ or Revenge of the Sith)

Top 10 would be a lot easier. Honorably mentions

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990

Goodfellas

Scarface ( The original from the 1930's)

2001 Space Odyssey

The Dark Knight

T2

The Departed

Interview with a Vampire

There's just too many movies lol

Godfather Part II definitely, though other ones like Terminator 2, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, LOTR Two Towers, X-men 2, John Wick 2, etc are up there for me.

It really depends on the genre... Too hard to pick a top 5 overall because I like lots of movies a whole lot. So, here's my top 5 critically underrated/overlooked sci-fi films

1. Coherence

2. The Island

3. The Signal (2014)

4. Moon

5. No Escape (1994)

Have not seen any of these. Looked at Moon and Coherence before but didn't get around to watching. The Island seems interesting. Thanks for the list, will have to check them out.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
