If Silotolu Starts...

the only games we win are the ones where the defense can  dominate.  Amini single-handedly almost cost us this game.

As soon as he was on the OLine, every play crumbled.  We couldn't move the ball.  If Jarrett were any kind of smart, he'd have punted on the 4th and 10 and pinned us.  Lucky for us, he was world-class stupid with play calling and time management.

Cam won't last half the season if we have to start Amini.  At this point, I don't want him near an NFL field unless it's for the opposite team.

I agree he is a drive killer and will get your QB killed. Even when Taylor Moton got beat he at least tripped two Cowboys Defenders to prevent them from having a free shot at Cam. Amini doesnt even have the awareness to hold or grab a facemask. I hope Corey Robinson starts this week.

Yeah, Amini isn't starting material. He isn't second string material. He was suited up and could fog up a mirror when the team had nobody left to throw into the game who knew the play calls.

We got lucky that we had a lead and that our defense can hold ground when we need it to.

I don't think Rivera was on the sidelines just rocking the happy dance that Amini was going into the game.

Stop it. Do any of you not realize Amini DIDNT START THE GAME. He started TWO rookies over Amini. That should tell you everything you need to know. Amini went in bc the new swing tackle isn't up to speed yet. Stop bitching about a good decision that you don't understand.

up to speed? lol as an o linemen you either pass block or run block, there is nothing to get up to speed with.

Yes.  We all realize that.  Do *you* realize that we started *ZERO* rookies on the O-line?  Not two?  In fact, our only rookie O-lineman was inactive yesterday.

The guy *directly* cost us one point.  No debate.  He may have cost us three more, depending on the blocking responsibilities for CMC's fumble near the goal line.  Yea, Amini was in as the jumbo tackle on that play.

Honestly . . . the decision everyone here is baffled about is not why Amini was in the game.  It's why he's even EMPLOYED.

Do we still even know whether Robinson is healthy or not? I've still heard no update on how his foot injury is going.

If Robinson is not ready to start next week we need to strongly consider signing or trading for someone.  Unfortunately, Sirles is not even an option for us until Week 6.

Silatolu has taken over the whipping boy mantle from Brentin Bersin.  He shouldn't be starting or necessarily even on a team with OL depth.  However, at this point, our OL depth is as bad as WR depth was until recently.

Silatolu is not 100% to blame.  He is not a starting caliber OG, let alone an OT which he was pressed into being yesterday.

But yeah, the coaching staff needs a better plan than to just start Silatolu and hope for the best

Yeah we basically didn't have a T. The look in Amini's eyes when lined up said it all lol.

    • Fug Em!   Lil bastard was milking injuries most of his time here. The moment he leaves he's all of a sudden a workhorse RB and a MVP candidate.   *Poo me up I'm a big boy I can handle it.
    • Another source: NFL Rumors: Hakeem Butler to Visit Panthers After UFL Success, Wade Phillips' Praise ZACH BACHAR JUNE 10, 2024 The Carolina Panthers are expected to conduct a workout with UFL wide receiver Hakeem Butler, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Butler recorded a league-leading 652 receiving yards as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks. He was previously a fourth-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. After the Battlehawks were defeated by the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Conference title game, Brahmas head coach and longtime NFL coach Wade Phillips told the receiver that "I'm going to tell everybody in the NFL that I talk to that you need to be playing," via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Despite the loss by St. Louis, Butler still hauled in six receptions for a team-high 59 receiving yards. The 28-year-old was named the 2024 UFL Offensive Player of the Year, as he was one of only two wideouts to have multiple games with at least 100 receiving yards. While the Panthers added Diontae Johnson and first-round rookie Xavier Legette to their wide receiver room in the offseason, they could still use some depth in the form of Butler. Carolina isn't opposed to picking up former UFL players, as Rapoport revealed on Thursday that the team is also "expected" to sign All-UFL receiver Daewood Davis. Although Butler was selected by the Cardinals in the 2019 draft, he did not play as a rookie due to a hand injury and only appeared in two regular-season games as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. He did not record a catch. Butler signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 offseason, although he ultimately didn't make the team's regular-season roster. At 6'5", he has the frame to potentially make an impact in training camp and earn a shot at making Carolina's 53-man roster. If his workout goes well with the Panthers, Butler could give himself another chance to possibly return to the NFL.
