NFL.com: Cam Newton is Hall of Fame bound, whether you like it or not.

Even if you arent a Panthers/Cam fan this is a no brainer. He’s not even 30 yet and is already the best dual threat QB of all time, has 3 pro bowls, a ROY, MVP, and OPOY. Revolutionized the position and whether people want to admit it or not he, along with corny ass RW debunked every stereotype and perception of black QBs. Before them black QBs were always considered game managers who could compliment a team but could not carry a team. I dont think for one moment it isnt off base to say that guys like Dak, Watson, Mahomes, Jameis, would not have gotten the opportunites they did if not for Cam and Russ

A lot of people in here are saying it's a no brainer, but among non-panther fans that's not the case. Particularly those who heavily weigh "passing stats" such as Passer Rating, Completion Percentage, TD/INT ratio, etc.

Cam is the type of player you need to see play in order to know he's hall of fame bound, I'm not sure just looking at numbers will do it, even including his rushing feats. I personally think he needs one more MVP like season (doesnt have to win it but needs to be in the debate) or he needs a ring.

Warren Moon, Steve McNair, Donovan McNabb, Randall Cunningham....

It's not a black/white thing. It's a Quarterback thing. Every team always wanted their quarterback to be pocket passers. Now you see more dual threat QBs.

People want to bring up completion percentage, but even Dan Marino only had 5 seasons out of his 17 year career at or above 60%.

Cam Newton has the 3rd most TDs (behind Marino & Manning) & 2nd most yards ever (behind Manning) in a player’s first 7 seasons. He’s averaging over 4,200 yards & over 30 total TDs w/ a lower INT % than Peyton Manning. His total TD to turnover ratio is pretty damn good.

He’s already the NFL's all time leader in rushing TDs for a QB and will likely finish w/ at least forty more rushing TDs than Otto Graham. He’s led his team in rushing TWICE (only the second QB to ever do that), has never had a 1k yard RB, & his best receiver since ‘14 is a TE.

In seven seasons he has four playoff appearances including three NFC South division titles. He won OROY with the most TDs ever for a rookie (35). He was the first rookie EVER to throw for 4,000 yards and while doing that he also rushed for over 700 yards.

He won an MVP while passing for 35 TDs & rushing for another 10 TDs. He was the first to do 30 & 10. He was the first QB ever to throw for 300 yards and 5 TDs while also rushing for 100+ yards in a game.

He’s going to have over 225 & 75 in four years not to mention his potential past that. He is 4-0 in his last four games against Brady and Rodgers. Go look at the players with 75+ rushing TDs. Cam is definitely on pace for the Hall of Fame. He’s a once in a generation talent.

Fun Fact: Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger have the same amount of seasons with 30 or more TDs (three) Ben has played fourteen seasons, Ryan has played ten, Cam has played seven. (Cam: 2011, 2013, 2015. Ryan: 2011, 2012, 2016. Ben: 2007, 2014, 2016)

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
