We played like poop and still almost came back from a big hole, on the road, against a divisional rival...

So, everybody cool your jets...

The only things we should take away from this game are:

DJ Moore needs more PT.
Keep CMC in on passing downs.
Our Defense is still not great in the secondary, and we still play too much prevent/soft zone.

We've got a home game next week against a team that isn't great by many standards, and then our BYE, and then another home game against a Dave Gettleman GM'd garbage team that still has Sloth from the Goonies playing QB. TD's back after that, and then we have a short road trip against another mediocre team.

We'll be fine. We're in a three way tie for second place in our division and only one game back from the leader. We're still working out the kinks, and will be a well oiled machine by the time it really starts counting.

Keep calm, and Keep Pounding!

Yeah, agree. We were in it until the very last play of the game. Atlanta played great and they still couldn’t put us away, even with us playing below average most of it.

Falcons are going to struggle this season on the road and honestly I don’t rhink they are very good. Pretty optimistic loss honestly. They need to win the next game though.

We also were missing are best two receiving options arguably. Our Pro Bowl Guard was out. We had a guy playing LT that literally was sitting on his couch last weekend. And every single WR dropped passes for Cam including one that dropped right into the Falcons hands near the red zone.

Oh and the refs had a ghost PI and a non holding call that literally changed the outcome of the game.

I'm surprised the game was even close. Cam is a beast.

People need to remember that this is a new offensive scheme and will take time to adjust.

The 2 minute offense was horrific and way too many dropped passes.  Cam was walking up to the line like he was trying to kill time during that last drive and that was a head scratcher.

Yep, thats the Ron Rivera way. Keep the game close instead of trying to win comfortably so if you lose you can just say:

"Hey we almost got a win, missed some opportunities, feel good about where we are at!".

And learn nothing and come back next week with same problems

    • it helps that Bryce and Tmac worked out a bit this off-season before the draft and are familiar with each other's game from way back.  Sure Bryce put in a good word for him to the coaching crew ahead of time That california connection goin' work, I hope

    • My biggest problem is I think the players he likes don't really work in the modern NFL.  You mentioned the wr room being a lot better, is it?  It has the potential to be.   Last year when we traded up to get Legette, they said they traded up to take him specifically because he was a true X receiver.   Now this year they take TMac because they say he is and that XL was out of posisition last year.  Im not sold on Tmac yet just like I wasn't sold on XL last year.  If TMac isn't a lot better than last XL was last season then that's back to back first rounders in one position that would still need a huge amount of work.  Hopefully Tmac is what everyone seems to think he will be, I'm just not so sure, but them declaring XL was a true X receiver after the draft last year and what they're saying now should at least give you pause about their receivers evaluation because it means they definitely made a mistake one way or another.
