Panthers coach Ron Rivera said the team "has to put more on D.J. Moore's plate."
Moore has played just 17 snaps each of the first two games of the season, but he flashed with a 51-yard touchdown against Atlanta in which he made a few defenders miss on his way into the end zone. Cam Newton seems to like Jarius Wright, but Moore simply gives the offense more upside. He needs to be used more moving forward. Sep 17 - 10:47 AM

This proves that Ron is aware that DJ Moore needs to be targeted more often. It also says he is aware that Funches is not the guy to rely on.

Good on Ron. There are plenty of pig headish coaches in today's NFL that would be reluctant to admit something so obvious. Ron does a good job correcting flaws with his teams and before you know it we rip off 4 or 5 wins in a row instead of dropping the next 4 of 5 like many feel this team may do.

Wright has been our most reliable WR so far. Moore needs increased opportunities, but they shouldn't come at the expense of Wright.

Wright is a slot receiver, pretty much period. He is not an outside guy, and he doesn't put fear in the opposition. Moore and Samuels should.

Yeah didnt get that

Its like yeah we know we have to get Moore on the field more

But were going to keep to 2 guys that are struggling and replace the only WR that was producing with Moore

Ron doesn’t normally call out the staff or players, wondering if he’s doing this because he knows there’s a new owner lurking in the shadows

Wright has been no more reliable than Funchess, that is just a hot take. Cam is 10 of 14 targeting Funchess against a #1 DB. Wright out of the slot against a #3 or LB and Cam is 8 of 12 targeting him. That is a 71.4% completion rate to Funchess and 66.6% for Wright.

Wright is 10.6 yards per catch, Funchess is 11.8.

Wright also fumbled the ball ( we recovered ) in the first game against Dallas.

Torrey Smith needs to sit for Moore. And when they are all healthy the starting lineup needs to be Funchess, Samuel, Moore as the 1-3. Smith and Wright can't handle the #1 spot and Moore isn't ready for it just yet.

But face it, do we really  know Moore isn't ready for the #1? It's always after a frickin injury that we find out.

No we don't know for sure. We can only, as fans, judge from what we have seen of him when he was on the field in preseason and thus far through 2 games. 17 snaps a game isn't going to get him ready for being #1 later this season or going into next season either and we need to get him more reps in general.

    • What people fail to understand is Lance had a college career that lasted about as long as teenage boys first intercourse.  To say he was raw was an understatement.  So much so that even a QB whisperer had a difficult time molding him into a polished NFL product on top of multiple nagging injuries.  The dud is in his mid-twenties, finally healthy and little miles on the tread.  Low risk, high reward.  If he's available, it would be stupid not to kick the tires.  It took Darnold and Mayfield to hit their 3rd or 4th team for things to finally click.  This is Lance's 3rd stop, I believe.  It's either time for it to click for him or be relegated to a full time backup. Roll the dice....
    • Wrong.  At least we put a QB sneak in the play book and and add plays over 20 yards.
    • I don’t know if people realize that Evan’s was one of the top TE prospects in college  before having some horrible injuries. I wanna say he had two major injuries in back to back seasons which limited his play and dropped his draft stock.
