The elephant in the room. Why is Torrey Smith still starting?

I can no longer defend the Moore isn't a good practice player anymore. What he showed me today in his limited playing time tells me all I need to know about who should be playing more on the field.

If Moore or Samuel isn't starting next week, I think it's time we question if Ron has any idea how to adjust on offense. No disrespect to Torrey great leader and veteran, but he is not providing anything on the field worth him taking snaps away from our young studs Moore and Samuel.

We need to make it known that Moore and Samuel should be getting more snaps than Torrey Smith.

Who's with me?

I just posted in the other thread that it should be blatantly obvious that Samuel, Funchess, Moore, and Wright are by far our best receivers. Smith should be no higher than 5th on the WR depth chart. With Byrd active for return duties I'm honestly not even sure Smith should be active on game days as long as those other five guys are healthy and available.

He's definitely not doing what we signed him to do.

Couldn't really justify his salary for what he's given us so far either.

He's been terrible in all aspects. I'd have no problems whatsoever with just cutting his ass tomorrow morning. Salary not guaranteed

Not sure why anyone is surprised. Torrey Smith hasn't been a good receiver in years.

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
