Patrick Peterson has asked for a trade

Unless we can add a pass rusher, I see no upside in this team making a trade during the season.

I think Peterson would get at least a 2nd, maybe more, and that's too much IMO for a guy his age.

And Bradberry hasn't been awesome, but he's been ok considering who all he has had to go against.  Yesterday was they worst outing he has had this year, but I think he will bounce back.

And the Panthers need their draft capital for the potential and/or likely holes we are going to have next year at DE, C, and potentially OG and DB.

Hurney had a great draft this year, and he's going to need another one next year to keep us in playoff contention.

The Saints are willing to forego next year's draft and/or blow up their salary cap for a couple of years post-Brees for this year.  Let them.

I'm willing to look at this long-term and hope we can play our best come playoff time if we make it with who we got.

Peterson is only 28.  He he ain't a dinosaur.

I personally think Bradberry is overrated in Panther world.   Fine #2.

Much easier to find a pass rush than a good DB.

Maybe, but there's still a lot of cap hit a team would be taking on for a guy that is nearing 30, so I think maybe that factors in.  But who knows, maybe they could get a 1st.

Certainly a 2nd plus something else, either player or draft pick

Jackson is our future #1. However it is be it Bradberry or Peterson they will be the number two next year and beyond. So hypothetically we would have the best duo in the NFL.

One big issue is we don’t have the cap space this year, next year yes, just not right now. We would have to cut Tory Smith and a few others to make space.

We could clear the space needed for this year in 10 minutes through restructures if we really wanted him. That's not really an issue at all.

Or he could just restructure his contract to play for us. It can be done but realistically we have a very low chance of doing it.

Not worth it. Bradberry and Jackson are the future. Trading for Peterson means you give up a first for a 28 yr old player. So he’ll be great for a year or two max while you sideline Bradberry who’s approaching his prime and then he’ll bail for another squad.

We can't restructure his deal until he is on the roster. He can't be on the roster until we clear the space to take on his contract so we have to restructure someone first. You can't ever be over the cap. We need to clear around $5M this year to make it work since we have about $1.7M in space right now and the rest of his salary this year is around $6.4M.

Steve Wilks: "We're not trading Patrick. That's out of the question."

Though I do think if we were willing to give up Bradberry, a young player he knows and likes, that might actually be much more enticing to him than what other teams will offer which is just draft picks.

I kind of feel for Wilks.  He seems like a good guy, but he has found himself in a bad situation in Arizona right now.  There is very little hope on that team right now.  However, allowing Peterson to talk himself off the team seems like a surefire way (one of the few) to end up being a coach fired after his first season.

Owners only fire a coach after 1 season (given the financial implications) if the coach is just obviously in over their head and/or the fanbase is on the verge of mutiny.  Wilks looks to be in danger of both indictments right now.

Losing the SB sucked big time, but Arizona has not come close to recovering from the beatdown we gave them in the NFC Championship

why do you have to sideline Bradberry.  You need more than 2 DBs.  Peterson, Bradberry, and Jackson could all be starters.   Way the league is changing DB is gonna be more important than ever.

Look at teams like KC and the Rams.  You can't defend those with meh DBs and a pass rush.
