Saints talking to Dez Bryant. No contract....yet.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Saints and free agent Dez Bryant are "in negotiations" on a contract.

Per Pelissero, "all signs are pointing that way" regarding the two sides reaching an agreement, even though Bryant left New Orleans already. Brandon Marshall and Kamar Aiken also worked out for the Saints, but neither is expected to get the job. Bryant would simply be a member of the supporting cast for Drew Brees. If signed, he would be hard to trust as anything more than a WR3.

He's a Kelvin Benjamin at this point in his career. Someone on twitter did bring up to me on Dez Bryant's impact in the red-zone, which I admit is very large. Not sure how Saints have been in the redzone this year thus far, but have to imagine he's an upgrade there.

If Sean Peyton tries to give him significant snaps elsewhere, he's literally a downgrade for their offense just by his presence on the field. Same guy on twitter agrees. I'd be ecstatic if that's the case.

Tell me, who is the most targetted WR after MT?

Answer: Ted Ginn. He hasn't played in 4 games. Acting as if Bryant is going to take snaps away from a better player is silly. Can he play? I honestly have no idea. Claiming he's a downgrade is crazy. We're getting absolutely nothing from our WRs.

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
