I agree. But my question is....why did Coleman drop off so drastically in 2017?  Seems like the Panthers jumped the gun on releasing him. I was surprised when he was cut....and disappointed when he was immediately signed by the Saints.

Honestly, it happens a lot.

One of the most common career arcs in the NFL is "guy gets good, guy gets money, guy gets bad". And it's not necessarily that guys get lazy after they get paid. They just often have a shorter shelf life than personnel people thought they would.

Evaluating that a guy is good right now is relatively easy. Seeing that a guy is on the verge of being good is not terribly difficult either. Heck, even a fan can do that and at least be reasonably accurate.

What's extremely hard is predicting just how long a guy is going to be good. Some guys are good for a decade, others for only a year or two. There's just no way to definitively know.

I think that's why a lot of GM's like short contracts. If you guess wrong, at least you're not on the hook for very long.

Tepper is revealing to everyone what he thinks is important, step by step.

Unfortunately what he seems to be revealing has absolutely nothing to do with WINNING.

It's WAY too soon to be making that statement.  A smart gambler doesn't play his cards too soon.

Earl Thomas was way better than Roman Harper and Mike Adams ever were.

How good he's still going to be after that injury is unknown.

I hear what you're saying, but there is no question in my mind he is still a top 3 FS in the league.  Because of that, I don't think it would make financial sense to bring him in unfortunately

What part of "I don't care what their politics are" did you find difficult to understand?

I saw what you said but i read into your words. Subconsciously when you say "raging leftist" and "hardcore trump fan.It kind of shows an affinity towards one over the other even if you choose to not admit it. Any idiot can see that.Seems your the one that finds this concept difficult to understand. Not that i care one way or another... everyone is entitled to their beliefs.. just thought I would give you poo about it since you said the word politics in here.

Oy :eyeroll:

There are these things that they call "adjectives". I like to vary them up. It makes my sentences sound better, less redundant.

If you think that means something, you're a lot like the English teacher who read a passage about a room having blue curtains and thought it was meant to convey a feeling of sadness. In reality, the author actually meant it to convey that the room had blue curtains.

I don't watch football to feel good about my politics. I watch football to enjoy football. Hell, the Panthers could field a team full of whigs and I wouldn't give a damn as long as they win games.

Shame Carolina throwing a life preserver didn't do much for him. The only reason he came to Carolina rather than 49ers, using his words "Carolina offer was better".

Even after that giant favor- Chasing top dollar, them the breaks.

I think Reid struggled some the first few games he played but got better. This is because he had to learn a new playbook and teammates.

their are a lot of issues when it comes to re-signing Reid.

the first is cap space. Panthers won’t be able to pay him the big bucks.

the good thing is that many teams will stay away from him due to the problems he is having with the league and the attention is bringing.

I believe it is very possible that Reid could re-sign for less money simply because the Panthers signed him despite all the off field drama.

some players appreciate things like that and maybe Ried will be that guy.

I still think that Gaulden can develop into Reid, but with slightly better coverage skills. I don’t think he will be All Pro, but can become a solid SS with a descently high ceiling. Should be a lot cheaper and allow us to use FA money on our lines...

    • Personally I think he's a nightmare to cover I think linebackers generally aren't fast enough to keep up with him in coverage and cornerbacks don't have the strength to tackle him one-on-one in physically bring them down which would normally lead to a broken tackle or a nasty stiff arm or just bully ball play sure you could find a receiver with comparable speed like Cooper but he's faster than Cooper sure you can find a wide receiver that is the same size but he's probably More powerful than them and a better blocker.  The size speed athleticism package that he is in is completely unique it's easier to say I'd rather have just a big blocker because we've never seen this type of profile before I'm a risk taker I think you would be God blessed if this was there at 19 I think if you can get a guy that's a tight end who immediately becomes the fastest guy on your offense and at the same time that third wide receiver that can stretch and burn defenses over the top that's the perfect what the Panthers need type weapon.
    • I think you're under selling Sadiq. They are two different players in terms of how they win. Loveland is 2 inches taller maybe 5-6 pounds heavier. Comparing his speed to sadiq.. well your comparing a 4.7 guy to a 4.3 guy I'm seeing a guy that can take a bubble screen from the tight end position and turn it into a house call. I'm not saying the guy is a certified home run pick but I don't think there's really a president's for a comparison for this kind of athlete. It's easy to say this doesn't look like Warren or Loveland because we haven't seen guys that fit this profile The closest you might be able to get is Vernon Davis.  He's not as sure far as those guys were but at 19 I think almost everybody is going to have some warts and he's a lottery ticket of could be top 10 in the draft player or could fail I am more of a risk taker I think he fits the athletic profile that could be a homerun, like I said he's almost 40 lb bigger than Cooper and like 4-5 in taller than Cooper so and he's faster. So whatever you think Cooper gives you I think he does that and more. If you want to go with one of the office alignment I can understand that as well but for value as a receiving threat I don't think there's a bigger value at number 19.
    • I’ve haven’t seen anything that says we have interest in Njoku?
