What would you do about the backup QB Situation

Now that Cam has officially had his scope done, it's almost certain we will go after a backup QB. What do you guys feel would be the best approach for the back up QB?

• Draft a rookie? Who?
• Keep running with Allen. Why?
• Sign a FA. Who?
• Trade for someone. Who and what would you give up?

Personally, Teddy Bridgwater would be on my radar. We'd have to make some adjustments with post 6/1 cuts to create cap, but having someone who was on the inside of a divisional opponent and is familiar with Norv's offense..... that would be ideal for me. Thoughts?

I'll get beat up for this, but I think we stand with who we have, either Heinicke or Gilbert. I think both have a lot of upsides for very low cost.

Did you mean to include Kyle Allen instead of Gilbert?

With our current cap space and needs across the roster I say we roll with Kyle Allen/Heinicke and draft a QB. If Cam can’t go our season is over anyway. Why pay 10+ million for a qb like Bridgwater when he is not taking us to the playoffs of leading us to the Super Bowl? We waste money and end up with another 7-9 or 8-8 season with one of the current free agent QBs if we have to go to them. Foles would be a nice addition but no way we can afford him, we should draft one and hope they can turn into a cheap quality backup.

Too many glaring holes elsewhere on D and the OL

We can draft a rookie early incase Cam goes down.  But that rookie isnt going to able to guide the ship with the holes on D and OL filling it up with water.

 

Cam could come back this year.  If the same thing happens next year as this year with him, id start to worry then.  And grab a QB in .round 1 in a stronger QB class. 

 

The vet FA market should be good

I like the Tannehill option. Did not even think about that one.

Novel idea but he will be the most expensive FA QB more than likely.  Honestly the real answer is there isn’t one worth drafting or signing.  Let Allen, Heineken and Garrett compete.  Just not a lot of options this year.

Allen did well against the Saints starters. Bridgewater sucked against ours.

Everything depends on the condition of Cams shoulder. If he can come back and make it thru a season and play at a high level then we really don’t need to worry about a back-up.

 

Hurneys moves during the FA period and the draft will tell us where Cam is at

Teddy Bridgewater played like ass against OUR defense. I’m assuming you didn’t watch Week 17, because if you did there’s no way you can justify overspending for him over Kyle Allen, who outplayed Bridgewater in every facet of the game despite playing with three turnstiles and two wet paper bags as his offensive line.
