Our First three picks in 2017 draft our best in team history?

Well are our first three selections of 2019 better than any other of our first three of any other draft we’ve had?

What have they done to make u think that? McCaffrey has looked really great but I wouldn't say this is best ever not even close. I would say our last couple of drafts have been pretty much garbage. So now u see why we have to bring in old ass people because we have no good youth. Now we are paying for it as a team killing Cam's and Luke's SB chances.

Our last two drafts have been good. 2014-2016 were awful.

2001 and it's not even close.

It would be almost impossible to beat Dan Morgan, Kris Jenkins, and Steve Smith for your first 3 picks. It was an all-time great draft for any team, and unquestionably the best in Panthers history.

That is how you go from 1-15 to the Super Bowl in 2 years. Along with the FA signings of Stephen Davis, Jake Delhomme, & Ricky Proehl

Also shows how dramatically things can change in 2 years in the NFL and the utmost importance of the draft.

Back to OP, I assume he was referring to this past draft (2018). It does look like it was the best draft we have had in a lot time, although need more time to fully evaluate.

Also gives me hope in the ability for the 2019 Panthers to bounce back despite the changes on the team provided we have another successful draft like we did last year.

No good youth? What an idiot.

McCaffrey at RB, Turner and Moton on the OL, Moore and Samuel at WR, and that’s just the starting point.

The Panthers have quietly reloaded a lot of the offense the last 2 years. Still need help on Oline but the offense should be explosive provided Cam is healthy.

Need to have another good draft, especially on defense/Oline, but this team is not that far away from competing... so much of it hinges on Cam.

Exactly. If we find good dline pieces, get rid of Mike Adams, and Cam gets healthy again we could be turn into a contender.

    • Yeah, Fitzgerald was smart to sign with the panthers--not sure how many NFL teams were in the Market....I was surprised to see Morgan re-sign Tuttle and Ray--even if Ray's contract is completely unguaranteed--but with Brown, Wharton, Brown III, Robinson, Cam Jackson--maybe Crumedy--Tuttle could be excellent depth--but at DE, not DT, imo.  Once again, it appears that Morgan may have found UDFAs who have a shot making the team--last year, there were 2 who contributed in a meaningful way.  This year, I see CBs Thornton and Reid with a legitimate shot to make the roster.  I also think LB Nomura has a legit shot (Morgan has to love this guy) as well as LB Bam Martin Smith from USC.  Finally, I think one of the safeties will stick. In all, I expect 1-2 CBs, 1 LB, 1 S, 1 OL, 1 K to make this team. Predictions:   CBs Thornton and Reid make the 53-man roster.  LB Tuasivi Nomura makes the 53-man roster as a ST ace and ILB depth OL Michael Tarquin may make the roster to groom as a potential RT replacement for Moton.  Moton, BC, and Nijman are on expiring contracts.  While I like what I am hearing about Kandra, the OG room is very crowded.  Lewis, Hunt, Zavala, Kingston--but he could compete for the 4th G job. S:  Trevian Thomas, Isaac Gifford are probably the front runners, but Jack Henderson from Minnesota might be able to win a S spot as well.  I expect all three will not make the 53, but the darkhorse name to watch is Henderson. Henderson's Pro day: Minnesota DB Jack Henderson had arguably the BEST overall workout of any Safety in this entire draft: 40yd. 4.47 vertical. 40” Broad. 10’8” Shuttle. 4.15 3cone. 6.70 Bench. 12
    • I’ve said this before, in retrospect I consider 2024 his true rookie year.  When I judge it from that standpoint there’s a lot to be encouraged and excited about. He wasn’t a top 10 QB in that timeframe but he definitely looked like a legitimate starting QB with upside potential. I do expect top 10 numbers this year.
