Week 17 of last season...

I know a lot of the discussion right now centers around who will be available versus who could have been available if we had the higher pick.

Who are some of the guys you're hoping for but aren't counting on?

Who are some of the realistic possibilities?

In the end all we did was drop 8 spots.

In every single round. The cumulative value is roughly an early 2nd round pick. That's what we cost ourselves by winning a completely meaningless game.

Yeah, I'm pissed about it but whatever. What's done is done.

Funny enough the Hornets are soon going to find themselves in the same position as the Panthers.

Regardless, the story is always going to be the same. Competitors like to compete and Kyle Allen was going to play to win regardless of what we as a fanbase wanted.

This. Other than resting key starters, which we did, I'm not sure what else you do to lose. Throw intentional interceptions? Fumble on purpose? Try not to tackle?

I'm honestly curious what you tell someone like Kyle Allen to do in this situation. Don't try? Not a single one of you would tell these players in person to lose.

only reason we won that game is because the saints didn't try or care.

we should play to win every game and we probably would a lot more if that was the most important thing to rivera and he did whatever was necessary to win.

Not completely done.

Who will be available, and who won't be, when we pick will be a direct result of our final record, and that game.

So until the draft is actually completed and we see the results, it's not quite over.

I believe the highest we could have picked is 7th, if Quinnen Williams is sitting there at 7 I'll be pretty bummed.

As for our pick, I'd be happy with adding Greedy Williams to our defensive back room as you can't go wrong with an LSU DB and I also wouldn't be opposed to Devin White if the Panthers are truly intent on going to more 3-4 looks (they would also have to be satisfied with White's ability to play OLB in a 4-3 scheme as well).

And I may be in the minority but I like Clelin Ferrell over Sweat even if both are there. Ferrell already has Everson Griffinesque ball get off skills he just needs to work on his technique. Ferrell is also already doing it at 260, I'm worried what an additional 15 to 20 pounds will do to Sweat.

    • Im not firm on many things football, but this statement or belief or strategy I am 100% for. Full Offseason the goal is to make the playoffs. Week 1, 1000% I want to win. Weeks 2-10,  1000% I want to win. Until the math stats 0.000000000% chance at NO playoffs, I want to win. *Once* there's no chance at the playoffs, I want to 100% lose every game until the end. You are still loser at 2-15 or 5-12, I want to never lose like this again. I want the best value for losing and suffering. Again the only goal is playoffs. Once in the playoffs anything can happen, I want to win the whole dam show. If you happen to lose in the first round, that's perfectly fine and lets work hard this upcoming off-season to get another chance to make them.  This is the ONLY way to play in the NFL. Anyone not understanding this method of strategy, please call your doctor for a visit...
    • Purdy's good but at the end of the day you're paying first class money for a business class seat.  It's a big problem with the salary cap.  QBs take most of it whether they are Pat Mahomes or not.
    • Purdy saved the 49ers from that three 1st picks for Trey Lance. People forget that. People also forget he should have MVP votes for the 23 season. He's been any where from the 8th(his best/23) to 14th ranked QB, he's legit and guys around top 10 get paid as QBs.....guys in 28th get paid too, he's 4x the QB Trevor Lawrence is and better than BY by miles as well...even without CMC, Samuel(whos a RB playing WE), and half the OL.    *BUT*    You non-believers missed this ultra important mistake that honestly made me reconsider all the praise I gave him. https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/49ers-qb-brock-purdy-throws-blind-40-percent   That's is damming to my case and reset my thinking of his. That's nuclear scary now and I need some time.  too honest for me to overlook.
