I'm happy for him and wish him the best, same as I do others in similar situations.

With that said, the Panthers aren't a charity. They're a football team.

Their job is to win football games, not do nice things for players who need help.

Yes, there are times when you can do both. I'm not convinced this is one of them.

What are you talking about? No one said anything about charity.  I actually showed his contract and said we could cut him immediately if there were any issues.

You are making a straw-man.  I simply pointed out that you were dismissive of him because he sought treatment for his issues.

And on that note, passrush wins football games, and he is good at it.

Signing bonuses always get eaten by the team trading the player. There is usually limited guaranteed money in a contract taken on by the team trading for a player unless the contract is redone like the Raiders did for AB.

He's over 30, had a major mental breakdown last year and his current team doesn't think he's worth hanging onto. Those are red flags.

Houston and Griffin are really the only quality pass rusher on the market left.

If the game of pass rusher musical chairs comes to an end and the panthers are left without a seat, then they are on the outside of the playoffs looking in.

Get it done and give yourself a chance.

I'm sorry but that's exactly why I'd dig up a Greg Hardy, put him on a tight leash and return him to Eric Washington. It's totally worth that risk. Get the guy into training. I know it's not a popular decision but as a football decision it's shrewd.

Honestly, this scares me.

We would really be putting a lot of our eggs in baskets with serious question marks. Paradis coming off of a broken leg. Williams coming off of a season ending knee injury. Cam's shoulder. Griffen coming off of a mental breakdown, not to mention the fact that he's 31.

If everything worked out, those moves could honestly make us a contender but there's a very real chance that it could absolutely blow up in our faces.

Comment I've made every time someone's suggested a Josh Gordon type: It's not wise to put yourself in a position of having to depend on somebody you aren't certain you can depend on.

You're right in saying that it looks like we may be doing a lot of that this season.
