We have enough if we want it. The cap is easy to manipulate whenever you need to. Most times we don't make moves until we need to sign someone.

Exactly. Eagles had $19 million pre-free agency, we had $17. Eagles have signed Malik Jackson, Andrew Sendejo, LJ Fortt, Ronald Darby, and acquired DeSean Jackson.

I mean they think Teddy is the future...dark times are returning for them.

If they think he's the legit heir to Brees, then yes indeed. I honestly think they may just be trying to maximize Brees' final years and then use his dead cap after his retirement as their excuse for why they tanked and then try to find his replacement with their inevitable top 5 pick to follow.

We'll see, but Teddy Bridgewater the answer. They'd probably be better off just running a wildcat offense with Hill.

how tf do the saints have more cap space than us?

That's enough to sign a veteran defensive end. The 7.5 mill will cover the draft picks. Probably will only be able to sign one veteran that is released or if we trade a pick for an impending camp cut.

They just made it so Brees will count like $45M against the cap in 2020... all in for this year will result in an immediate need to rebuild.

I get the feeling that we are trying to keep our intentions about 4-3/3-4 close to the vest before the draft.  If not they would be looking for at least depth at the DE position.

We couldn’t be sitting on the sidelines for incompetence reasons??

Maybe Hurney found his reserve of scotch again.  He will get back to it once he sobers up.

Former Vikings’ G Nick Easton is signing a four-year, $24 million deal with the Saints, per source.

Supposedly Aints have around 19.6 cap so they must pull money out their behind or something. Supposedly contracts for Teddy Bridgewater, Malcom Brown, or Mario Edwards Jr. haven't been taken out yet.

That's a pretty significant contract in the second wave of FAs. Usually after the first couple or three days you're down to guys getting 1-2 year type deals.

Significant would not be the word I would use.  Knee-jerk, Laughable, Tragic might fit better

It's important not to overreact to retirements of important players, yet that seems to be exactly what the Saints have done in the wake of this signing.

This seems to be a major overpay. I ranked Nick Easton as a one-star free agent because I thought there was a chance his career could be over in the wake of his neck surgery, which caused him to miss all of 2018. The year before, Easton was just a below-average starter. It's nice that he continue his career. However, considering Easton's health status, the Saints should've been able to get the former Viking at a major discount. Instead, they aren't even just paying full price for him; they're giving him way more money than he deserves.

The Saints have a great front office, but this seems to be a rare blunder. There's a chance this signing pans out, and Easton does well for the Saints, but this signing is far too expensive for my liking.

Brutal. I honestly know nothing about the guy, I was just commenting because it's honestly uncommon to see a multi-year relatively high dollar type contract this deep into FA.
