I don’t mean to beat a dead horse but in the world outside of Madden you simply can’t have some all star team of underpaid over preforming rookie studs. At some point you have to pay the performers and the issue is the Panthers have NOT built through the draft and instead allocated sources in duds.

We actually didn't use the money to pay KK since we didn't sign KK until after the season was over. Plus Norwell money didn't go to Kalil. When we paid Turner we pretty much were picking between Norwell and Turner. 

And yes we have built through the draft. More of our players were drafted than gained through acquisition of other team's players.

I can't see where anything you said besides Kalil was a waste of money rings true at all.

Thus far Clowney hasn't necessarily played up to his hype, but I think he's played better than some Huddlers are giving him credit for. He's simply a beast in run support.

That said, I certainly wouldn't give an arm and a leg for him. Maybe one or the other.

I suspect every team has more players they drafted than not. Building through the draft means paying the guys who preform to stay.

I am not saying what money went where instead of here or there. I am talking in a general, broader picture where the Panther have chosen to spend their money and where they did not. When I say 'used that money' I am saying 'chose to pay' not instead, but chose. But hard to argue the money couldn't have been better spent elsewhere or having to let KK go because we used the money better in the past.

Bottom line is if this team is building through the draft appropriately and paying performers and spending resources wisely then what is the reason this team has been garbage since 2015 and we had basically zero cap with a 7-9 team? And saying because of Cam's shoulder, seems a bit easy when the team had more issue than that.

I think KK gets a bad rap due to being so spectacular earlier in his career. Even Peppers had some down years. With Washington focusing again on the defensive line, I expect him to have a bounce back year in a better scheme for him.  BTW, if we play a 2 gap 3-4 the DEs don't rush until they know it is a pass. Their job is occupy blockers, stop the run and then rush the passer. If we play a 1 gap 3-4 then expect the ends to penetrate more.

Why have we been crap. One reason. Cam has been hurt since 2016. At least now the offense has enough weapons to be able to not have to rely on Cam carrying everyone on his back.

If Clowney was in a 4-3 defense from the start, he’d have twice the sacks he has now.  Despite having microfracture surgery a few years back.  If we were sticking with a 4-3 I’d say pay the man, but the guy isn’t a 3-4 DE or OLB no matter how badly the Texans want him to be.   Still about to get paid big time though... good for him
