Can Newton is being positive about the Grier addition

Recommended Posts

"“I reached out to Will, and I actually saw him play in high school with him being in Charlotte. And I’m just excited. Like I said, for him to come on a team that I know he possesses a rare talent, and I’m excited. . . . It’s my job to put myself and my team in the best situation, and get everybody ready, . . . I want to make sure that I’m [the] best teammate and my best self for everyone.”"

If only Cam's fans could bring themselves to think like this.

In a perfect world, we get another 10 productive years out of Cam, but Grier comes in here and there and just dominates, so we trade him in 4 years for a stupidly high draft pick, and still get 5 or 6 more years out of Cam.

This is the hope.  6 TO 7 Cam years and in 2 years we flip Grier for a stupid high pick..

The Cam haters should bring themselves to think like this as well.

Agreed.  I heard Cam's comments and he handled it great.  Also heard Cam had proactively reached out to Grier which is good.  Grier played in the PGA Tour pro-am at Quail Hollow this week, good publicity for the team.

On a similar topic, interesting quotes from Tom Brady to Jimmy Kimmel about his pay package.

Brady said when asked why he isn’t the highest-paid player in football.

“I think the thing I’ve always felt for me in my life, winning has been a priority. And my wife [model Gisele Bundchen] makes a lot of money. I’m a little smarter than you think. Actually, it’s a salary cap. You can only spend so much and the more that one guy gets is less for others. And for a competitive advantage standpoint, I like to get a lot of good players around me.”

He is smarter than people think. He's giving up millions on NFL contracts while insuring tens or hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsements, etc. because he's the GOAT on a dynasty team, that his lower salary helps to augment.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
    • His daughter's initials are CAM.  Coincidence? I think not
