How bout some love for DJ

Recommended Posts

Dude literally always causes my heart to jump when he has the ball for two reasons. One being he is a straight up beast with the ball in his hands and his fumbling.

Dude can literally be an All Pro on this team if he can just work on his fumbling issues.

This guy quietly lead all Panthers WRs last year in receiving yards and receptions  in his rookie season with a coach who barely let him play for the first half of the season.

He runs like an elite RB with the ball in his hands. He just needs to work on ball security and he'll be a great WR for us for years to come.

What I'm hoping to see this season is both DJ and Curtis used more traditionally , thrown balls 20+ yards down the field outside the numbers . I know it was probably mostly Cam's shoulder keeping us from taking deep shots the last couple years though.

good thing he was on the bench first half of the season. clearly he wasn't ready. I feel the bench helped him progress.

And I thought he had a heart condition we treated and then eased him back into the lineup as he finished his conditioning. Didn't know he was benched.  Hadn't heard that from a credible source until now....

That was Curtis Samuel, not DJ.

Rookie Fumbe-itis, I hope. At least the ones I saw were completely unnecessary. He just needs to gain better recognition and awareness---keep that head on a swivel...Get them eyes in the back of his head online at all times.

As for conditioning, yeah, he looked like Armanti Edwards out there on a play or two, but perhaps he should get up with 22 to see what he's doing---match that training regimen.

I'm excited by him. Moore, Samuel and Wri---wrong! Moore, Samuel and Godwin (IF Rivera doesn't get in the way) should be a helluva trio once the season is going full steam. Throw in the RBs and TEs and Hogan, and that's an offense built to kill with a healthy Cam at the helm.

They didn't pay much attention to Steve Smith, Sr. for the first couple of years, either.

And then... well, you remember and so do about 65 DBs who got beat senseless over the next few years.

DJ is going to be great. He hasn't even arrived yet.

That is who I was talking about. Not DJ. DJ did play in every game even when he essentially lost us a game with multiple fumbles. Norv had confidence in DJ as he struggled which is why I am not a big proponent of starting rookies. Let them play but not start until they have adjusted to the NFL.

That might have been who you were talking about, but I don’t think that’s who the guy you quoted was talking about. I think he was just complaining that DJ wasn’t starting from the beginning. I tend to agree with your approach though, or I think it’s at least justified to ease a rookie into the starting lineup on a case-by-case basis. You don’t just hand a rookie the starting job, even if he’s a first-round pick. Wide receiver is an incredibly nuanced position, not to mention the playbook that these rookies have to learn beforehand.
