Will the Panthers miss Munnerlyn?

So the nickel spot is one to definitely keep an eye on this year. The Panthers will still likely use the nickel often in the 3-4 base scheme. My money is on Corn Elder to step up. Corn gets a lot of undue hate from fans after not performing so well on the outside (where he should have never been to begin with. )

I'm hoping that Cockrell has recovered from his injury and can secure the nickel spot and have Corn back him up.

Also, I haven't look at numbers but Munnerlyn had to be one of the worst defenders not just nickels in the NFL. It is addition by subtraction not having him back. I wonder how many 3rd down conversions alone he gave up.

I think Corn would be a surprise to make the roster at this point, we have more proven veteran depth so long as guys stay healthy, I don't see us carrying 6 DB's; so here's my final five. Corn to PS if eligible, or simply cut.

Jackson, Seymour, and Elliot can all play inside, and we'll see if the Gaulden looks at nickel are legit, although I have no idea who'd pair with Reid at S if that was the case for packages.

Bradberry

Jackson

Cockrell

Seymour

Elliot (from TB)

Is Ross Cockrell a possibility?

You want your 3 best CBs on the field.  And if he returns to nearly what he was prior to the leg break.  Bradberry, Jackson, and Cockrell on the field together in the nickel seems like itd be the best option

Side note, I wonder how much Cockrell would have helped on the field against the Steelers, one of his former teams.
