Goodell and refs to testify under oath about infamous no call

That game loss isn't a legal issue so why was it sent to court anyway. Nobody went to court because of Patriots cheating and at least 4 suspect SB's which weren't fair wins. You are right though because Aints organization and it's fans will continue to make a mountain out of the smallest ant hill.

I agree and think this is a waste of the court's time.  I think the lawsuit is alleging fraud which is kind of ridiculous; however, that no call was so bad that it does make you wonder if the refs were sent a message from the NFL.  I think this is the only reason the case hasn't been dismissed.

I'm an attorney, but this isn't my area of law and like I mentioned before, I don't care enough to research it.  I do hope this sticks because it will be tough for NO to move on with this kind of thing lingering.

Generally removal to federal court is automatic and immediate and it appears that the defendants have not attempted to remove the case yet and this is perplexing.  I hope it stays in NO and keeps the wound open because this type of thing means NO isn't over the loss and likely will carry over to this year.

Apparently, the guy that filed the remaining case carefully crafted it so that wouldn't be automatically sent upstream. He only asked for 75 K in damages for example. I can dig up the quote if you really want me to, please don't really want me to.

I'm still very surprised this case hasn't been removed to Federal Court and the NFL attorneys didn't take up this battle and I don't think it would be much of a battle.  Attorneys try to keep cases in State Court all the time and this isn't a novel idea.  It is almost like the NFL wants Goodell to be deposed and perhaps they think they'll come out on the "good side" of this in the public's eye.

Meanwhile, on the darker side, my guess is there are some people in New Orleans that want this to just go away.  The next Super Bowl there is in 2024.  After the power outage fiasco during their last one and the fact the Super Dome isn't getting any younger, poking a hornets' nest is probably not being embraced in those circles.

Yeah, don't know, maybe the judge is a saints fan.

There's no way this is going to anything but a slam dunk for the NFL.  "Refs are human, bad calls happen all the time, not changing the outcome."

The game has been over for many months and yet the whole state of Louisiana still are complaining and whining about the missed call that shouldn't have been initiated in the first place. The states government officials need to stop acting like a kid and start being a responsible adult and take care of the states real problems and do their job and if they can't replace these weak minded people(including Aints fans).

They were already gifted a free superbowl because of a hurricane do they really wanna act like they were screwed? They ought to talk to Minnesota about that one. Also I think Houston has a little something to say. Hey NFL .. big storm..city underwater..Wheres ours guys?

I can't believe they are wasting courts times with a play from an NFL game. Surely there are more serious issues to be dealt with. Its just a game. Bad calls happen to every team. We have seen our QB get beat to death and never gets a penalty. If someone blows on brees it's a penalty. I just call it karma for bounty gate and purposely injuring players

As awesome as it is to see Saints fans cry  I wish Jerry Richardson and Charlotte would have stood up for Cam the way the game was rigged in SB 50. That game was called much worse.

This is why I do not mind seeing this issue go to court.  Since gambling is involved, and since people are paying good money for a product and process, there needs to be oversight.  What if the refs got paid?  I do not think that is true, but the NFL is the easiest game to rig---don't call the holding, call a personal foul after a big play...etc.  Personally I think there should be a formal process for selecting refs.  For example, each playoff team ranks the teams they want.  The team with the lowest averaged number gets the game. Instead, it is a reward system.

    • see we are just not going to agree - unless you change your mind lol. Mine isn’t changing without hard evidence that Morgan supported it like a puppy dog.  He was the assistant. If he disagreed and said so, and they didn’t listen, he has to pick his battles. If he continued to oppose he is looking for work. He knows this stuff. I think he knows Bryce is a super long shot just because he faced NFL QBs and probably would have salivated at the thought of Bryce on the other side in his playing days.  Anyway I am going to judge him on what he has done since he’s been the man with the title.  I also would bet a stack that there were conditions placed on him and on Canales re Bryce Young. Can’t prove it. I am not supporting the Brooks pick, and rationalizing the XL pick. And rationalizing the Brooks pick to an extent, on the (assumed by me) mandate that was a condition of the hiring. Which was ‘sell out’ to make Bryce work. This year. Now. (2024) That is what those top two picks were.  IMO. They failed, id judged today.  I think Morgan is doing a great job really, once he got his feet under him and was allowed to do his job.  Fixing this team while accommodating Tepper/Bryce, more than a two year fix.    Anyhow I have beer to drink will check back later.
    • Dolphins pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips: The Dolphins have received trade interest for both players, but could have an easier time trading Matthew Judon due to his more affordable contract
    • Saints WRs Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed: While the Saints have maintained they don't want to trade their wide receivers, other teams are still monitoring their availability.
