Not feeling the excitement

I will be honest, I am very nervous about this game. Not just because it’s the reigning NFC champs but because we have not seen anything to give us confidence, especially on offense.

- Offensive Line:  don’t know if the OL will be able to hold up and give Cam or CMC any time to throw or holes to run through

- Cam’s health: will we see any lingering effects on his movement Can he throw the ball 30 times a game?will he be able to withstand the inevitable hits and pressure from their DL

- Offensive chemistry: this offense has looked awful and we don’t have enough veterans (other than CMC or Olsen) to think they can just flip the switch

I want to believe we can win, but just not feeling optimistic we can move the ball.

If you're a fan of the Carolina Panthers, you should be used to tempering expectations either way.

No point being miserable before the game even starts.

In terms of longevity throughout the season though, winning at home will be crucial. Last year we were pretty ugly at BOA, moreso than in years past for sure. If we can flip that around and stay healthy we should be fine. We also need to start winning games against the Falcons, especially in Atlanta. They've had our number for awhile now.

I have zero expectations going into this season yet somehow ready to be disappointed. You could tell me we finish 3-13 or 13-3 and I would probably believe you.

I think we’re at least a 6-10 team even with Grier or Allen at QB. 3-13 would shock the hell out of me. That is seriously fuging bad and we have some really easy opponents.

Other than Aaron Donald, are any of you really worried about an older Clay Matthews, and the all hype Dante Fowler Jr (4 sacks in 2018), and Ebukam their anticpated starters / edge rotation...

Dante Fowler Jr. the last 4 seasons

  • 2, 2, 8 (back in 2017), 4

Then Clay Matthews the last three seasons

  • 5, 7, 3.5

Samson Ebukam in two seasons

  • 5 TOTAL SACKS (2017 & 2018) aka his career

    • I'm not looking at any of those as a good choice. Willis is a pass and Jones will probably get a contract offer in Indy (and should).  Now, work out a trade for Mac Jones and I might be intrigued. The two best QB factories right now are SF and LARams. Grab someone from their benches and you get a quality guy from a prior high draft that might be reaching their potential. Everything else is a crap shoot at best.
    • Nijman wasn’t terrible. But I wouldn’t describe his play as good either. I think he’s still best suited as a swing tackle off the bench. And unfortunately Brady Christiansen cannot be relied on given h injuries as well   We should resign Nijman, but we need to bring in someone else either in free agency or the draft to give us an alternative in the event he doesn’t perform. Free agent options are pretty bad unless there are some surprise cuts, so the draft is probably our better option.  With our overall needs, would be nice to shore up the defense in Round 1, but if the value that’s there is in a LT, I think you have to seriously consider that. If Ickey returns and can still be effective, I think you can move him or the new LT over to RT since Moton will likely be retiring in the next couple years.
    • The moving goal posts for Bryce both ways is wild. But for the most part, this place is overtly negative. First, it was he didn’t show flashes at all of being a #1 pick: he’s done that for sure. Then it was he cannot throw the deep ball and we want to see him take more shots: he’s done that and gotten much better with his timing and accuracy on deep shots. Then it was he can only win with a dominant ground game getting 200+ yards: we haven’t had a ground game since October, he pretty much carried the offense and almost took down the Rams. I get it, you didn’t want him and think he’s too small and weak and nothing will change that. But holy hell give the guy a break. “31 other starters can do what he’s doing” You put a statue back there like Stroud and see how many sacks we give up in that playoff game. I’m not saying he’s a top 15 qb but there are flashes to what he can be if he continues to improve. The disrespect to saying he’s a bottom 5 qb is wild lol
