Week 1 passing chart

The one thing I need explained is how people say that Cam can’t throw it deep but then complain about that overthrow. He can throw it  deep no problem. He needs the opportunity to throw it deep. That’s going to come from play calling and protection.

What I mean by "can't" is that he can't throw it accurately and lacks touch.  I am not really questioning that he is strong enough though his arm is probably not as strong as it used to be.

After watching various highlights, I am not nearly as concerned about his arm strength still suffering from the injuries.  He had a lot more zip on all his passes.  His mechanics looked pretty good.  His accuracy faded after a good start, but that could be the effects of rust.

At this point, I would not blame them for not turning him into the mad bomber in week 1.  Not that such a thing is a Turner trademark, anyway.  But hopefully we do see him take a few more shots as time passes.

Patience, folks.  This is a work in progress, I think.

I mean he allegedly threw downfield very well in camp and Curtis Samuel apparently couldn't get open deep so he checked off. We do need a deep threat in the playbook.

Very well?  You sure?

We may have just heard what we, and the other teams needed to hear to think that we can push the ball.  Hell, Tom Brady can still launch the ball downfield, what we are talking about is being able to consistently hit downfield throws....you know, like Cam did back in the day better than almost anyone in the NFL.

It's not just arm strength, it's be able to put the ball where it needs to be, when it needs to be there, and being able to do it game in and game out.  We have not been able to do that since 2017 on the long ball.

Go watch Watson last night at the end, we haven't seen that kind of passing here in some time now.

That said, we can work around that, but we have to play 100% mistake free football to do so....something that has never been a trademark of a Ron Rivera led team.

This is what I see. Raiders won last night in part because they picked on a backup CB. If you look at the chart we did nothing to pick on a backup safety.

Well they woulda had to been a in game adjustment and we apparently don’t  do that. Ron must think it’s cheating and unfair to the other team to make changes during the game.

When’s the  last time U saw us try to catch a teams defense with too many men on the field. Happens to us every game. Ron acts like It’s unsportsmanlike to try  anything like  that. Can’t hurry up on offense his vaunted defense neeeds rest.  He’s stuck in the 80s. Games passed him by. I thought you were supposed to exploit the other teams weaknesses ?

Before all of you get up in arms . . . can someone please post the stats on receiving cushion?  I can only see stats for DJ Moore, because he had the highest average cushion IN THE NFL for week 1, with an average cushion of 9.3 yards.  If all our receivers were being treated this way, it says something ENTIRELY different than the narrative that people seem to immediately jump to.  Pretty damn hard to get deep when your defender is 10 yards off at the snap.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
