WHO CHARTED?

A weekly look at the Next Gen Stats charts of the key players in the Carolina Panthers games.

This week, the charts of the Carolina Panthers victory of the Houston Texans.

Kyle Allen

Unfortunately, this does not convey Allen's fumbles, as those obviously play a significant role in his performance. Allen looks like he distributed the ball really evenly across the field this game. Also, one of those white dots at +40 would have been green if not for an uncalled pass interference on Curtis Samuel.

Jarius Wright

This chart conveys exactly what Wright is all about. Get open and catch the damn ball. 6 targets, 5 receptions. This guy is going to be a huge part of the puzzle this year as teams start to gameplan for Moore and Samuel.

And Finally, CMC

27 carries is a lot for any running back in the NFL. For CMC who is also so heavily involved with the passing game, it is even more of a workload. Why the hell did we keep all those running backs on the roster if we don't plan on using any of them? The CMC stats are great and all, but all NFL running backs have an expiration date. Using CMC this much now is only shortening the length of his career. They must find a way to balance his performance with the backup runners.

Another thing Kyle doesn't really get credit for is the passes that were very much on target, well timed, and the DB just made an excellent play on. This happened at least four times from what I saw, most notably when our gameplan was to attack Jonathan Joseph deep.

Way too many lines coming from CMC. Same ol' same ol' from Rivera. Run your stud into the ground.

The rest of it looks great, but that CMC chart is very troubling.

Why does everyone keep saying it's Rivera's fault. Throughout Rivera's tenure we have always used 2 running backs. William's and Stewart, then Stewart and Tolbert. It wasn't until Norv took over and couldn't figure out how to use both CMC and CJ Anderson that we started over using our main rusher. Norv is old school and not at all with the times unfortunately for us.

This is where you're wrong.  What you're seeing here is an unspoken truth.  The staff (aka Norv) doesn't really trust any of the other backs on the roster.  If you look back over Norv's career, you'll find that when he has only one back that he really trusts, he feeds that guy.  Emmitt Smith and his first couple seasons with LT you find this pattern.

Later, when Norv finds Sproles, you see quite a few touches coming of LT's plate.

People just repeating mantras without thinking. This is one of the defining aspects of a Turner offense we should be well aware of.
