A bit of perspective in here, but honest, I'm not trying to make this a "see, Allen sucks!" thread...

Game 1: 14/20 161 Yards, O TDs, 1 INT (Win)

Game 2: 15/30 197 Yards, 1 TD, O INT (Loss)

Game 3: 21/33 299 Yards, 3 TDs, 2 Fumbles (Win, Primetime)

Game 4: 15/20 171 Yards, 3 TDS (Win)

Game 5: 14/23 162 Yards, 1 TD, O INTs

This is Matt Moore when we were convinced he was Jake's successor.  I think I have a fair memory of his play and it was solid, remember some bad throws that were disasters avoided, but he did enough to let us win.  The next season, we ended up benching him for David freaking Carr.

In comparison, we are all in clear mind of KA's work this season.  Overall, I think Allen has MUCH better accuracy, touch, and energizes the huddle a ton.  Not to mention, I think Moore has and will always have sloppy footwork.  His step back is JV.  If we're talking game manager, Moore was a classic game manager.  Thing was, he was super young and in a similar vein got everyone super excited because we all know we were at Jake's end.  So what am I getting at?

Saxy's Take:

Allen is a step above a Moore from what I've seen.  He has not been asked to go out and produce a game winning drive but he's winning, not having overtly sloppy performances, and after some early fumbles, clearly cleaned himself up.  When Cam is 130%, he goes back in, we play Allen until then.  If Cam plays a poor game, prepare yourselves for mayhem but I advise EXTREME caution with a young guy.  He's not doing anything next step and beyond that D Coordinators necessarily have to adjust to, but I'd be shortsighted to say he's not dropping dimes and executing the game plan really damn well.

This is SUPER generalized comparisons but I see more of a Matt Hasselback, Brad Johnson, Palmer, etc. than a McCoy, Fitzpatrick, Barkley.     

I give him a 7.8/10 so far.  Would rewatch.  Supporting cast is really awesome.  He carries it just enough.  He's WANG CHI from Big Trouble in Little China with Kuechly as Jack Burton.  

But don't you dare forget about Cam

I think the difference is Moore’s ceiling was immediate. He didn’t improve much at all throughout his career..Allen is ?

Yes.

I mean, the Nuggets need to have MPJ step up if they want to make it to at least where they were last year.  Murray-Harris is a solid backcourt.  Morris-Beasley a good rotation.  Jokic an MVP candidate.

He did not suck. He is still in the NFL and even started a playoff game for the Dolphins once. He was a good backup QB. Will Allen be that? Will he be more than that? We don’t know yet.

Kyle Allen is capable of making throws Matt Moore could not make... Outside of the Jags game, his throws have been pretty pinpoint accurate, which with his mediocre at best arm strength, he has to be.

I think Moore was more like Jake.  I think that was always the Moore comparison.  Moore gambled like Jake did and just tossed it up.  Just wasn’t as good. 

Allen doesn’t play like either IMO. Allen if he gets the fumbles under control looks to be more of the true game manager in terms of play.   Seems to play much smarter and controlled

That would be the majority of the fan base headed into 2010.  That was simply the reality of it, particularly after the Vikings game.  I imagine you're about to take the stance that you knew he was poor all along but he's been a reasonable emergency starter for teams.  Don't be that guy.

This is one dumb thread. Moore has been in the league for awhile and is actually still a back up. Not to mention Allen is breaking NFL records in his second year and Moore was never that good.

So what?  I see no resemblence.  Allen strikes me more like Tom Brady type of clean cut well spoken and undervalued in the draft kind of guy.

First I think Allen has presented more touch on his passes and better ability to sustain drives than Moore ever did. He also distributes the ball better. 

Secondly. Just because Moore got benched didn't mean he deserved it.  Fox left him out to dry and put him on a short leash.  Moore was out playing Jake in 07. He outplayed Carr and Clausen. He never got a real shot here and his opportunity to be a starter was never in good faith here or in Miami. Dude never got the opportunity to grow as a player because the moment he struggled he was going to get benched for the draft pick. So you can say he wasn't good enough but we still won games and could have won a lot more with him in his time here.

Even if Allen is a Matt Moore, this team is good enough win 4 straight with him. Cam gets healthy and its a win win situation. Maybe Allen blossoms and becomes a badass you never know. It'll play itself out.
