Any team with a back up QB should be ranked mid to last in any poll.  Do you know how bad your team has to be to be worse than the team without their starting QB?

)Carolina and NOLA are seriously raw-dogging the norms currently by destroying opponents in spite of QB situations.)

That craziness aside, we are a mid tier team until we’re winning at full strength.  Fluke streak is fluke.

we went to a Super Bowl w/ a backup QB.   Other teams have gone to Super Bowls with backup QBs.

Winning is winning.

Coming in to relieve a healthy but ineffective Rodney Peete isn't exactly being a backup.  And yes, other individuals have exceeded expectations.  Nobody is excited when QB1 cant go and they turn to Clippy McBoard to start chucking it around the yard.

The Eagles won a SB with Foles. Are you saying that ESPN would have been right to have them lower in their power rankings because they were playing Foles, a backup?

At the end of the day the Panthers are 4-2 with all of those wins coming from a backup and one of them being against a Texans team ranked several spots ahead of us that has a worse record and that we beat just a few weeks ago on their home field.

Ignore everything else, what about these two teams performances so far this year reasonably justifies ranking the Texans ahead of us?

No, Im saying teams playing their back-up QB's are inherently worse than teams starting their QB1.

Who puts the better QB 2nd on the depth chart?  Thats a strange way to build a roster.

Now, are there situations in which a Foles/Allen can step in and succeed?  Obviously.

Do fans get excited when they hear MVP lock QB1 Wentz blows out his knee?  "Hooray Foles gets to play!"  "Guaranteed Superb Owls!"

Sounds silly huh?

Okay, but you’re arguing against a premise no one has presented:

Teams are better with their backup qb playing.

The premise of this thread is: ESPN’s power rankings placement of our team isn’t defensible.

You seem to be trying to suggest that on the mere fact that we are playing our backup qb justifies the lower ranking. If this is the case I disagree based on our actual results rather than some theroretical notion about a premise not put forward.

Are you familiar with strawmanning? Because that appears to be what you’re doing here.

Also, who gets to be the arbiter of whether a streak is fluke or legit?

You?

If so why?

I would say rookie rather than back up as he sat the whole first year.

Here’s the fluke:

Former MVP and All World QB Cam Newton plays injured, goes down.  Back up QB Kyle Allen goes 4-0 in his absence.

Its a 1 off for sure.

PS: your jimmies, they little rustled or big rustled?

PPS: 14 is right where we should be without our QB1 and some dude named Kyle keeping the seat warm.
