In ron's defense, that was the first time he's played against kyle shanahan's offense

If there's anything I've learned from Ron's tenure here, it's that he doesn't gameplan for teams. He runs his defense regardless of opponent and dares teams to beat them. It's why we are able to look elite against average/bad teams and get exposed against good coaches.

Sadly, it's a pretty valid point.

Said it elsewhere. Rivera can be good, but not great. At this point, he's kind of like that comfortable outfit you refuse to throw out despite the fact it's got a dozen holes in it.

I know we're going to get the standard "we could do much worse" response from some, but that's just not a good enough reason to keep a coach that's clearly hit his ceiling.

And the reality is that we could also do a lot better.

Rivera’s defense is built to beat someone playing “straight up” football. He plays old school hard nosed 80s style football. That doesn’t work for most teams with new age offenses, the longer he’s our coach the less likely we are to see an analytic adaptable football team. I for one am tired of Stone Age football. I want to win.

It not comfortable tho.  Its tight in the shoulders, threadbare in the middle and faded.  It should be burned.
