Steve Smith Rips into Panthers WRs, "They may draft a WR in the 1st this year that will actually give good effort"

This team needs a legitimate number one. Somebody with size, who can separate and doesn’t get bullied at the top of his route. The other pieces they have right now are good for different concepts. Moore is exceptional in the open field. But you can’t do the Golden Tate deal all year long with Moore.

Blaming the players isn't without merit, but it's a little too convenient when you remember this is a staff helmed by a coach that has been here since 2011. Your team shouldn't be getting embarrassed like that in consecutive seasons.

Moore and Samuel could end up being more of the same we've seen over the years with our struggles of obtaining and developing talent at wide receiver. It is not outside the realm of possibility by any means. But I don't think it's that simple. At the end of the day I think this franchise realistically needs an infusion of coaching innovation starting at the very top.

We've seen enough of what a defensive minded head coach brings to the table. We just got drubbed in all phases, you can blame the players, but when you look like ass on both sides of the ball it isn't just a personnel issue. You would think fans who saw how John Fox started to fade when it was clear the league had him figured out and he had no answer would give some here a little more perspective but I guess not.

Look at the turnaround the Packers have made after bringing in a new staff. Did they turnover their entire roster? They made some changes but they flipped their record from 6 wins in 2018 to 7-1 and the top of their division at the midway point this year.

Allen’s first pick IMO wasn’t a bad throw.  And it really was the one that mattered most.  Other 2 came in the second half down by 3 TDs.

first INT defender made a great jump on the route and the INT was super easy because Samuel’s route was lazy and bad IMO.

I mean Samuel isn’t a great route runner or WR yet.  Awesome dude with the ball in his hands.  Don’t think he is suppose to be awesome yet.

DJ Moore is gonna annoy 89 because he is emotionless but I have never seen a down where he wasn’t fighting for all he could get on a catch.  I like DJ.  I did think he would take a bigger step.

Some of it IMO is Norv’s system and routes.  Norv’s offense while are built on taking shots....they have always been built on predictable boring routes as well.  His Cowboy teams were criticized back in the day for being for being super boring and predictable in regards to the bread and butter of what the offense was.

I didn’t listen to this, but did he have anything to say about Kyle Allen? It’s refreshing to hear him talk about actual legitimate issues besides the Cam/Kyle debate. The quarterback situation is important, but it was a monumental team loss

Literally in the middle of watching the film right now. I’ve done some analysis on Twitter tonight. Kyle was bad. He should’ve been bad, because their defense is ranked number one against the pass and they got down early. That’s on him and it’s on the defense.

Steve ain’t wrong. I’m gonna show you some examples later. Like I’ve told you before, this is a bit of a positionless offense. Guys are used in different capacities. Probably a little too often. A lot of ghost motion. A lot of jet sweep. Lot of mesh concepts. Very little traditional screen game. It’s concerning.

Norv, traditionally, is all about power football and play action vertically off of that. Just not seeing a whole lot of vertical concepts right now. They do some of it. Just not as much as I would like. Maybe a confidence issue with Kyle. When Cam comes back, they’ll probably be a more vertical passing offense.

There are some nice old articles from the 1990s when Norv was with the Cowboys I’ll try to find bashing his O (or referencing the criticism) I’d like you to read and get your take on since you actually breakdown the film.  Hard to really tell what routes guys are running watching on TV

About how Norv (his pass game) got too stuck heavily on the slant and check down game.  Basically if the slant wasn’t there you check down to the RB in the flat.  Rinse and repeat.

Which dramatically improves your QBs completion percentage.  But it painted Norv in a much different light IMO than the big shot down field reputation that gets repeated....but has never shown itself here really as a thing

CMC is almost entirely our offence.  So how hard is it to stop us?  We need a legit second threat who can play almost every snap, then we are opening things up.

Need a Redzone threat.  Have a ton of options between the 20s, Olsen isn't that guy anymore
