Lost in the shuffle: Titans Defense

Something that wasn’t really brought up much around here (I didn’t even realize it until just looking now), going into this week, the Titans had the 4th best scoring D, 16th against the pass, 11th against the rush, 9th total yards. That is a very very good defense we went against, after a horrific performance against another top D in the Niners. I think it is a really good sign that Kyle bounced back well and McC was able to keep dominating in the run game. Also, both DJ and Curtis had very good games and were big factors. A very encouraging game for our offense against a top defense. I’d have to say, our D (especially against the run and our safeties in coverage) is the bigger concern at this point. Even with Kyle being somewhat limited, our OL has done much better and our weapons are legit.

I remember seeing that the Titans were one of only three teams that hadn't given up more than 25 points all season.

That's not true anymore.

Titans didn't know what to do when their pass rush failed. We didn't know what to do when the 49ers pass rush couldn't fail.

Well tbh their d coordinator said we were the top offense they were gonna face thus far before the game . That kinda shows you who they been playing so that’s why their d look good on paper .

Their run defense has been rather exceptional this year. And Carolina just kept grinding after it. That was impressive, the commitment to the running game. Of course, mounting an early lead is the formula. I was very pleased with the commitment to the running game in the first half. It was a very well thought out game plan.

We were being aggressive on defense to stop the run. I would love to see this more often

It helps when you play Ryan Tannehill on the other side. He is trash. Aside from Derek Henry the entire Titans offense is a load of hot garbage.

I want to see Kyle play well when they are losing and I’ll be very happy.

Butker can play corner too? Man, we really shouldn't have let go of that guy.

Tannehill was making some damn good throws though. I just think their offensive play calling was the real culprit for them being so inept.

We are a completely different team if we get a lead early and are allowed to keep pounding with our run game.  This is not a team built for a shoot out or a large come from behind win.

This is common coach speak and not indicative of how he really feels

And it was weird looking like everyone was standing around watching it.  Only player who tried to stop him was Reid and he took flak for it
