Kyle Allen can’t become a franchise QB? Think again..

I agree on Cam, but it isn't just CMC.  Allen is extending drives, converting 1st downs... On our 90 yard TD drive in the 2nd quarter CMC had 3 carries for 7 yards and a reception for 3.  Allen was 7/7 that drive.

Allen also looked very sharp on that 99 yard drive against Tampa Bay in London. These are small but significant examples, significant in the fact that 90+ TD drives where it wasn't your running game that did most of the work shows about as much "clutch" as it gets. Poor QB's rarely have those types of drives, Allen is starting to do it more and more. Sure he still has a way to go obviously to be crowned anything... But how can anyone NOT see the signs and week to week improvements?

He can’t make all the nfl throws

This x1000

until he actually hits a receiver in stride over 40 yards through the air this conversation is pointless

Very few QBs can.

Big arm =/= all the nfl throws.

Allen has shown he can make throws in the NFL, and has had a few throws that many QBs drafted ahead of him *can't* make.

He's also shown he can't make throws other quarterbacks can make. It's a definite flaw.

That said he has shown he is more than capable QB in the league. This whole conversation about his ceiling this year (or next, if he happens to keep the job) is completely pointless because we don't have to worry anout his contract til AFTER next season at the earliest.

It's game fuging 7 of his NFL career. Of course he isn't hitting "all his throws" or "Making all the nfl throws".

Goddamn Year Two of Cam's carrer (and year 3. And year 4.) We talked about how inconsistent his short accuracy was.

Okay, see, crap like this thread is why there are trolls pooing on everything Kyle Allen does.

@Snake @PanthersNC1984 @SBiii Y’all are your own worst enemy

We had a thread comparing Cam's stats to Peyton's after year 1.

Stat comparisons are dumb but trendy.

There are the contarions like snake going OD but even in casual threads there are PLENTY of people who take any bump to Kyle as a slight to Cam.

Weird bc I cant recall the last time Cam did so..

I understand your selective memory is keeping you from thinking clearly on this subject.

the answer is yes, Cam Newton has proven time and again when healthy he can make any throw on the football field.

Allen has yet to prove this.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess that bchamp10’s point isn’t that Cam can’t sling it 40 yards down field, but that his generally sub par accuracy over the course of his career has meant he is rarely hitting receivers in stride, setting them up for substantial YAC. IMO this has always been one of the biggest weaknesses in his game. He has the ability to give you some highlight real lasers from time to time yes, but he also has consistently been less accurate than the typical franchise Qb,  requiring more adjustment to the throw in the air by his receivers, dampening their YAC potential.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
