I agree with the OP and I gave my thoughts in here. Save $14M cap space (we’d have it right now) over Butker’s rookie deal and Gano sucked balls in 2016 (lost a few games). 

Stats with no context mean fug all, and if you think Gano is the only reason we lost those Tampa games you're delusional.

That's the thing about kickers, they are a lot like poker hands. You mostly remember your bad beats and not your big wins.

Also, from the ESPN Blog, prior to Slye's FG miss, NFL kickers were 134 out of 134 from 28 yards and in.

For the record, Slye is now in the bottom 5 in both XP% and FG% in the NFL(10 games played or more).

He still missed a chip shot in the playoffs costing us a shot to win at the end with a FG, so I don’t want him back. 

I recall Gano making a 58 yarder in the playoffs.

Rivera was a winning coach under Gettleman. Heck all of Rivera's winning seasons came with him running the offseason.

What is with people and the whole ‘when healthy’ arguement? Gano hasn’t played for almost two years and won’t be ‘healthy’ if he ever comes back, what in the hell do you suggest you do in the meant time? 
 

Slye is better than Gano simply for no reason than being on the field kicking.

This team needs to get rid of both and find a new kicker like Butker (again).
