RUMOR: Josh McDaniel and Pats exec Nick Caserio rumored to be in the running for CM/HC jobs in Carolina

The problem with McDaniels in Denver was that he wasn't ready to run the whole thing.  And he definitely wasn't ready for the amount of power they gave him.  He went in and tried to be Bill Belichick right out of the box, but he didn't have the gravitas, experience, or maturity at the time to do it properly.

However, this was 10 years ago, so it would be absurd to think he hasn't learned a few things and grown since then.  And quite frankly, going back to NE was probably the best thing for him.  He was able to reflect on what want wrong in Denver, and I'm sure has many discussions with the man himself about how he could have done things differently.

And make no mistake, he's one of the top offensive minds in the game.  And quite honestly, the weapons we have in CMC, DJ, and even Samuel would be an ideal fit in his offense.  Also, if he was such a trainwreck as many believe, there would be no way that he would be considered as the heir apparent in Foxboro by those that know him best.

This is a really good point - CMC and DJ are basically deluxe prototypes of the weapons NE has always used to such devastating effect. My guess is that a McDaniels hire means we look for a new QB though, as there might not be an NFL offense that Cam is less suited for than that one.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

Interesting to note that Caserio and McDaniels were a quarterback and receiver combo for four years at John Carroll university.

It'd be very easy to see the two of them as a GM / head coach combo somewhere.

The more I hear about this the more I like it.  This could actually work.

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
