Pass interference on Vikings' overtime TD vs. Saints? Ex-NFL refs says yes

Quote

No flag was thrown for offensive pass interference. But at least one former NFL official thinks a rule was broken during the play.

"It is illegal for an offensive player to extend his arm or arms and create clear separation from the defender. That was OPI," former NFL official Terry McAulay tweeted shortly after the game.

John Parry, a former NFL official who works for ESPN, echoed McAulay's assessment.

I think the officials on the field let it go because the DB had hands on the TE too...what amounts to 'chicken fighting'.  I don't think the officials wanted to touch such a tight call in the playoffs with a 10-foot pole.  I think it was a judgement call and nowhere the blown call like the Rams game last year.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
