Ron vs Rhule... early thoughts on if team is better or worse

Yes, I know. We just hired the guy, the ink on his contract is still drying. But I’m interested in getting your thoughts on Rhule and with everything we know about him so far if we are better off with him than with Ron.

One big difference I see coming is that Rhule is heavy into analytics, sometimes putting more emphasis on that than actual game tape.

Seems like Ron and Matt are cut from the same cloth as far as loose family type of locker room. Matt seems more new school as far as analytics finding players and the sports science thing is kind of a big deal for the future that a lot of people aren’t talking about. Matt is much more we’ll rounded, Ron is a conservative, defensive minded coach.

the big thing I want to know about are in game decision making. What is Matt about in that regard because I have no idea. I’m guessing he follows numbers. That’s a good and bad thing. Just depends.

Dude night and day..I didn't see this happening because I thought rule wanted to stay at baylor but here's a few thoughts. 1. Like you said hes analytical and gameplans for each game. Probably spends a unreal amount of time in his office. 2. The age gap between him and players is far less, I see this as a good thing because they will understand each other  better. This is all the inverse of Ron. I don't know what else to say you nailed it....hes gonna be good for us.

Rhule will last three years and then starts the revolving door for years. #hurneymagic

This hire was all on Tepper. Don’t you think for a second Hurney had any say. Tepper wanted his man and he got him. So it’s open for interpretation how he pans out.

Well the team went from a 5-2 record and looked capable of winning to a complete disaster.

that makes me think its salvageable.

next season will probably be a 6-10 season. It’s just what happens so accept the suck with some sprinkles of hope.

    • It goes deeper than that for me. When I started watching the Panthers as a kid I fell in love with Mark Fields’ story during that SB run. He wore #58. Then TD wore it and kept the tradition of the being the soul of the Panthers. The next time someone wears #58 I hope brings that same spirit
    • T-Mac is a nickname, Tet is a shortening of Tetairoa. Like you said below... your name is Jonathan, I could see "Jonny" being considered a nickname, but Jon isn't a nickname, it's a shortening of Johnathan, see the difference? And if your mom named you Jonathan for it's biblical significance/meaning, because she was very religious, I think it would be different. T-Mac is Polynesian, so much in their culture has deeper meaning for them, particularly names.  So for his mom to feel this way, I highly doubt it's just because she likes the name Tetairoa and not Tet, it's much more likely than not to be because the name itself has a deeper meaning in their culture.   Particularly as T-Mac himself has often talked about how much his Polynesian heritage means to himself and his family. And no, I'm not saying all this because of how much he's my guy, if he was just "normal american" and his name was Jonathan and he didn't like fans calling him Jon, I'd probably just say tough poo.  It's that he's Polynesian and I know things like names have a much deeper meaning in their culture than they do in ours for the most part. For whatever it's worth, a quick google search.......
