I'm way more afraid of drafting another avg. Game manager and still having holes on the roster... Which seem to happen when you take a developmental QB outside of the 1st round..

Some things you don’t need to worry about when you have a good gm and scouting department . And 1st rd qbs arent a sure thing . BPA and if that’s a QB take em if not wait it out . We always draft for need seem like and that’s why we in the position we in now . Not much talent on this team

That’s not a great ratio...6/7 of the draft only provided 1/3 of the QBs...

So 2/3 of them were not first rounders, right?  If first round QBs are such a certainty, why don't all 32 teams have one?  Truth is most teams without a former day 1 selection at QB tried and failed in that approach.  Are you more likely to succeed with a first round QB?  Of course, but it's not a nearly a given and likewise a lower round QB isn't destined for failure either.

I'm down for drafting Hurts in the 2nd if available. The guy feels pressure, knows when to take off, has accuracy on the move, keeps his eyes down field and has touch on his passes.  Plus he's a legit threat on QB keeper plays.  Does he have the cannon arm for a 60 yard hail mary?  No, but how many of those does a player have in a career?

Love was extremely average against inferior competition.  I do hope he goes early as possible to anyone but us.  He is not an NFL QB.

This season he was Average but not last. He has all the tools that could make him a great qb. He needs to be coached up but to write him off because he played at Utah State is silly.

From the way it was worded, 2/3 were 1st rounders

Correct, so roughly 66%.  If first round QBs are such a lock, why not 75%, 85%, 95% or 100%?  In other words, there is certainly risk in first round QBs. If you are savvy, you can get steal with a lower selection. Don't let the Will Grier pick jade you.  He was a reach by most accounts.

Well 66% is a lot better than 20% or whatever the rest of the rounds were individually.  Often times it’s not about being savvy, it’s just lucky. Belichick wasn’t savvy in taking Brady, he was lucky.

Favre, Brees, Wilson, Prescott, Foles, Cousins etc....  There are some examples past and present.  Yeah, that's not all luck.  Some real scouting is actually involved.  Brady in the 6th is a bit extreme, but that's not what is being talked about.  Taking a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round and having success is not pure luck.

Some of these posts are funny. Russell Wilson and Tom Brady and Joe Montana are lottery picks that were also 21 years and 12 years apart. Brees is mentioned but he was taken 32nd, that’s a first round pick now. Favre was taken 33rd, which would be the first pick of the 2nd round. Wow, really far from the first with those two.

People always like to point to the latest trend. Well you’ve got 3 1st round QBs in the championship games and a 2nd rounder.

Straight to the point.. And the 2nd rounder is there after 4 to 5 years of sitting and watching the goat and the best defense in the league...

I'd rather my QB be 1st round quality.. We already have 2 development QB'S on the roster..
