There is a Lot of draft talk, but FA comes first.  And FA always sets up the draft for teams.

So looking through.  Who are some guys who you think we Should sign/re sign.

Our own FA:

James Bradberry- first off, I dont think any team is going to give him more than 13-14 a year (unless the redskins can open a lot of space up to sign him). Bradberry isnt the best CB in the league But is solid.
IMO he us worth 14 a year. And I think once we cut the dat this offseason, we'll have plenty of space.

Mario Addison- unless he pulls a Charles Johnson hometown discount, let him walk.  He has been a solid player, but at his age I wouldnt commit to something big with him.

Chris Hogan- I think he fits perfectly into Brady's system and shoandnt cost much.

Kyle Allen

Potential FA signings

Robby Anderson- athletic WR who played for and likes Rhule.  Fits well into Brady's scheme.  Wants big $$ but think he would meet in the middle to play for Rhule.   Wont come cheap but wont demand top $.

Carl Nassib- Big Freak DE who was one of my Draft crushes coming out.  After starting off slow in Cleveland he was cut and picked up by Tampa.  Nassib finally showed promise this year with the Bucs.  The Penn State product should come cheap.

Jordan Phillips-another big athlete who's career started off slow.  The big freak was cut from a disfunctional Dolphins squad then finally took off in Buffalo this season with 9.5 sacks and 16 QB hits.  Buffalo wont invest $ on him as they have Star and Ed Oliver tied up.  Phillips is exactly the type of player you heard Rhule say he likes.  One Buffalo site has him projected to sign in the 3 year 21 mil range, which would be in our price range.  A DT like him would allow to wait and draft a DT in rd 2-3 to get one and hit OL etc in rd 1.

I wouldn't be surprised if they let Bradbury go. I would be disappointed, but they may feel they want to reset without any big contracts. The same with Mario. I like him and he's been very consistent but I'm just not going to be surprised if they let him walk. I feel like I haven't really got a handle on whether they want to compete next year. Rhule obviously has a track record of tearing things down and rebuilding as many coaches do. With that long contract, putting out the best team may not be a priority for him.

Interesting that you highlight those 3 names. They are all dangerous FA pickups IMO. Players with traits who have been disappointing for the most part with flashes of quality. As much as they may fit, I would be wary of overpaying them.

3 other local guys

DJ Humphries- local Charlotte kid who was rumored to have been drafted by us had he fallen.  After a few injury filled season's, he finally put together a decent year.  Expect a prove year deal for him.

DJ Reader- need a big NT to help clog the middle on Run D?  Reader has been a stud in Houston's 3-4 but could fill in nice here.  This defense has not been the same simce Star left.  Poe hasnt been what we wished and what Falcons fans warned us.

Javon Hargrave- another Local NT.  The Steelers starting NT hasnt been a big stat filler in sacks but is that perfect clog the middle guy.  In 2018 PFF gave him a 82.7 grade which was the 19th best DL.

That’s my thought if we are truly rebuilding. Between Bradberry, Addison, Irvin, McCoy, Butler, Hogan, Cockrell, Boston, Van Roten and maybe someone else I am forgetting, we’ve got a bounty of potential comp picks. If we stick to trades/releases/post comp cutoffs then we could end up with 1-2 3rds, 1-2 4ths and a smattering of lower picks. It would set us up nicely in the 2021 draft to target a bunch of potential and see what sticks. Yes, we’ll suck in 2020, but I think we were already there and we need a new franchise QB if we are moving on from Cam.

In years past I would be against this.  But I am in full tankathon mode.  I would definitely support this.

This franchise has a horrible history of signing local people. Always signing local players instead of going out and getting real talent. Hopefully that was a jr thing

Giving Robby Anderson anything over 10 million unless for 1-2 years seems unwise to me.  Which will be the bare minimum he signs for I would think. He's an exciting guy with some potential, but he's a #2 at best. I can't get down with signing a #2 WR to 8 figures per year when you have Moore, Samuel, CMC, and a deep WR class to draft from.

If any money gets spent this offseason, it's on Bradberry or building the lines.  This team can't make luxury signings at areas that aren't drastic needs.

Should franchise bradberry before signing him long term, just to see how he will fill in Snow’s scheme without hamstringing us for the next couple of seasons.

Brandon Scherff should be looked at if redskins choose to not resign him. also still would kick the tires on Williams to see what they are asking.

Suh should be looked at if the Bucs don’t resign him, along with keeping McCoy.

Hard to see any other fa until the Main scheme For defense is announced.

Like this, but I think Reader and Hargrave will cost much more money than resigning G McCoy

    • Yea when teams see a gun charge they rightly pause but this seems like a big misunderstanding.
    • Sorry man you lost me at "Teppers have evolved as owners". Limped into playoffs at 8-9 not even above .500 Tepper is trash as an owner bro and that's not even a discussion at this point. 37-83 w/l ratio. Nuff said.... Morgan tho, he's cooking and it ain't cuz of Teppers leadership
    • After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...
