Another Panthers player announces retirement

Wes was a consistently solid depth piece who also flashed and came up big at times. Ton of appreciation for what he did in his time here, it’s players like him that you need to field a Super Bowl contender, to support the superstars and have cost effective contributions that aren’t sexy but can be the “glue.” Have fun in retirement big guy.

Undrafted--we got a lot out of him.  If I were Wes, I would be proud.  So you second shift waffle house parking lot sweepers should understand that not everyone in life achieves the lofty status you have acquired.  Know when to tip a hat and shut up once in a while.  Jeez.

Congrats to Wes. To even make an NFL roster you must have greater athletic gifts than 99% of the population, but within that select company even fewer are blessed with the gifts needed to be a star, a Pro Bowler, or even a multi year starter. The rest is a product of effort and determination. To be an UDFA and earn a 7 year career in the league is to get the absolute maximum out of the gifts you were born with.

My hats off to Wes and my sincere thanks for everything he brought to the team in his time here. I wish him luck in his future endeavors fully confident that people who have shown such effort and determination over a sustained period rarely need it. They usually do just fine for themselves one way or another.

    • Nothing against it other than meh feeling. If it’s best for the team  it’s the rational and correct  approach. No disputing that.
    • "Making" the playoffs.  It felt more like a participation trophy.  If the NFL went away from the stupid division winners automatic bid and went strictly by best records (like most sports), the Panthers wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs in that scenario.
    • You've still got to have a bench play 20-25 minutes a night, but by statistics, yes it's the best 5 man lineup in the NBA by net this season.      They have games against Boston x3, NY, Minnesota, Detroit, SA, Orlando, Phx, and Miami x2 in the last 22 games.  Projected losses vs Boston 3x, NY, Minnesota, Detroit and SA.  That's it, that's the 7 games they are expected to lose the rest of the season.  They are favorites against Orlando, Miami and Phoenix.
