How good could a bigger Brian Burns, KK Short, Derrick Brown, and the highly unlikely Jadeveon Clowney be for us?

I know our defense is going to be hot garbage next year. But just how bad could it be if we fix D-Line? Would those 4 starters fix it? Also, what's to say we don't have a situation where Cam comes back to form and we find a solution at LT? This is me just spit balling one Big FA signing which likely isn't even going to happen.

For the money it would cost for Clowney, I would prefer Littleton and keep the odd man front. We would still need to find a DE, but having KK and Brown with their hands in the dirt, and Burns-Shaq-Littleton-Miller at the backer spots would be pretty stellar too.

Clowney is the defensive version of Sam Bradford. Teams just keep paying the guy despite him being fragile and mediocre even when healthy

LOL at mediocre. The sack stats may not be the greatest, but the guy is a pure game changer on the field. Easily a top 5 4-3 DE. Bradford is a horrible comparison, he never at any point even sniffed top 20 at his position and missed way more games than Clowney.

I do not want Clowney at all, as it makes no sense to pay for a top FA when we’re in rebuilding mode, and yes the injuries are a bit of a concern. But to say he’s mediocre is just silly.

He's a helluva lot closer to mediocre than he is a top 5 DE. That's hilarious.

Honestly, the comparison is probably an insult to Bradford. The guy did throw for 3500+ yards every time he played 14+ games.

Just resign Addison and forget about Clowny

It's amazing how underappreciated Addison is. Even though Clowney has yet to put up 10 sacks in a single season, a dozen teams will be salivating to pay him $20 million per year. Meanwhile Addison quietly puts up about 10 sacks consistently every year at a below average salary for a starting defensive end and gets little recognition anywhere. Even with the rebuild, we should at least offer him a Peppers-like contract his last couple years as a veteran rotational piece.

It's not that Addison is underappreciated, IMO.

I think because he is about to turn 33, he is not as appealing as a player with similar production that is 27-28 years old. Too much money for a rotational 33-year old vet for me.

Different strokes for different folks.

Before I found out how lazy Clowney is AND hes injury-prone??? It breaks my heart to past on him, but the worst thing you could do is give a player with those two traits 100+ million. Only if he wanted to come home and take millions less with no very little guarantees, more likely to walk on the sun tho..

    • They are 1 and 9 against the  Bucs in the past 10 games. the Panthers go as young goes.  QB1 ‘s are suppose to dictate and overcome  and elevate Everything the QB does affects every part of the team and Bryce is uneven. Canales and Bryce have  an uneven relationship too  as for Evero, the only thing that might save him is the injury to Baker’s left shoulder and oline injuries. I don’t even know how he is out there   I really feel their season ended last Sunday Canales’ division record isn’t great   Getting owned by the Saints and Bucs isn’t a good look
    • Frankly surprised by the amount of people that want to hang Evero. This was a defense that was almost universally considered the bottom of the barrel before this season started. We’ve managed to stat our way to the middle of the pack whatever that means. Those critical of the zone schemes, what do you want? When even JC is getting burnt one on one by Olave you have little choice. There definitely have been moments where the zone blitz stuff has bit us. That said, are the third string linebackers (and nick Scott) covering poo anyway? This unit had only conceded 10 points going into the fourth quarter despite a litany of bullshit penalties on both sides. Them over performing is the biggest reason we are still in playoff contention.
