Great, let's open everything up immediately and go back to life as normal...but wearing masks.  Clearly its like wearing a hazmat suit.

Not normal. Modified normals. Some restrictions still make sense.

Look, Hong Kong has now gone 14 days without a single case of local transmission. This is a place with a much high population density than NYC. They did that without resorting to a full stay at home lockdown.

If wearing masks (along with other reasonable measures) means no more lockdowns and saving the economy, isn’t it worth it?

can't believe everything you read.

the media has gone mad with stories on this whole thing.

also, it's a positive development from the CDC.

Um, I believe a person who is sick and a doctor pointing out where she got it from. Reading comprehension difficult for you?

Hong Kong is not a reliable source of data.  Back when they had hundreds if not thousands of cases they were reporting 3.

Singapore has seen similar results.

Masks are not a cure, but all evidence points to the fact that they help. Some studies show they help significantly. Show me a credible study that says they do absolutely nothing, and I’ll be with you.

Watching people fight against wearing masks during a global pandemic has to be the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

I remember that movie Contagion a few years back with Matt Damon, thinking that it was a very realistic depiction of a pandemic. If it had a bunch of people running around in public saying "Whatever, I'm not wearing a mask! Don't tell me what to do!" I would have thought that it was stupid as hell. Too unbelievable, something like that would never happen.

I never said masks do nothing.  I'm saying some people are completely overestimating what a mask...or more accurately here in America a "face covering," is actually doing.

Your post is what's wrong with this situation.  People want to be all or nothing on everything.  If I don't fully agree with you, it means I'm totally against it?  Its hogwash.  I wear a mask, but I'm also not trying to pretend its doing more than it actually is.

The top expert in South Korea says the same thing, significant reduction in transmission. I'd listen to them before anyone else.

But I don't think there's any number of studies, facts or evidence that will matter to some of these people. They've made up their minds that "masks bad" and there's no convincing them otherwise.

These past four years have been an embarrassing revelation on our American society but man I just can’t seem to get my head around why wearing a mask in this climate has been politicized and almost criminalized. What’s the big deal? It’s like wearing one Has become some sort of perverted scarlet letter.

Out of curiosity, did you read any of the links that were presented or did you disregard them at the outset?

“easily” doesn’t mean it can’t be spread that way.

just like HIV doesn't spread easily in most cases....doesn't mean it CAN'T.

I'd love to see this article and learn how a Dr. was able to trace a persons step to determine where she became infected, and how they were able to go about testing that surface days / weeks later.

Sounds like a load of poo. Hit me again with the reading comprehension jab though.

No point to be made here, just an interesting read.  Here is an excerpt:

"Meanwhile, the second study, from Australian researchers, looked at 217 people on a cruise bound for Antarctica. The ship set sail in mid-March, just after the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic.

The first fever on board was reported eight days into the voyage. Over the following two weeks, eight people had to be evacuated from the ship because they fell ill.

All of the 217 people who remained on board were tested for COVID-19. More than half (59 percent) tested positive, but just 19 percent of those patients had symptoms. The other 81 percent were symptom-free."

Article on Asymptomatic People

The reason I highlighted this section is these vacationers were confined to tight quarters with COVID-19 people and probably did not take immediate measures (quarantine, hand washing, social distancing, mask wearing etc...) to mitigate it as the WHO had just recently called it a pandemic. So this is more realistic than clinical studies because it occurred outside of a controlled setting without any preconceived notions or hypothesis.  The article did not say if any of the medi-vaced patients or those that did show symptoms died from the disease.

Hi DOPE....I mean GOAT. The miracles and achievements of modern medicine are incredible. Whenever you log off of Breitbart or Stormfront -  Please use the google machine for this information. I’m not going to do your research for you. I wish you well in your continued struggle with reality.

    • Things like this happen everyday. We live in a social media driven society where loyalty is a foreign concept.
    • If you draft a guy who is healthy and has no concerns about that whatsoever and he goes out and tears his ACL in his first few games in the regular season on a physical play that's a freak accident. But when you trade up to draft an RB who is already rehabbing from a recent ACL tear and he spends the next several months continuing his rehab only to tear the same ACL again after less than a handful of regular season carries in a non contact circumstance that is no freak accident. That is a textbook example of why you do not do what we did. Particularly for what is now a plug and play position. And when you have the highest paid OL in the league over the next two years. None of that makes any logical sense. Legitimately it is and was some Scott Fitterer type foolishness. Now as for XL. The guy has not been committed to his craft. I think anyone with eyes on the situation can and would recognize that. However the warning signs were there. One season of legit production raw prospect that we knew would take time to develop etc. But Morgan and Bryce Young's own father were very high on him. I think in some capacity the reality of our limitation at QB is entering into the equation. Even TMac got a lot of flak over the course of his rookie season for not being able to haul in all of Bryce's passes. At the end of the day our fourth year QB also needs to do his part to maximize the talent we have available. As far as this year. Again. WR round 1 boils down to where are we going to get the touches for the rookie? That would require eating into not only our 8th overall picks touches but also our #2 WR whom oh yeah by the way was UNDRAFTED. I am happy to discuss WR prospects here. I was thrilled we invested what we did last year in TMac because it needed to be done and it made sense from all angles. But nowhere is it written in stone that you cannot draft a good or great WR outside of the first round. Except in the Panthers building apparently. That is not a good reflection on our scouts and front office let me tell ya. Because there's no way on this earth we are going to get back to relevancy and legitimate contender status if we can't pick some gems in the later rounds. Simple and plain.
