It honestly was an easy plan. It’s almost like we signed Teddy to make it easier for fans to let Cam go. If you’re moving on from him just do it. I never thought Cam would want to be a rebuild QB with 0 security after 2020 anyway. Fans are adults. We could pay 2 years of CMC or Moore with Teddy’s guaranteed money. We could foot 4 years of them with the whole deal. It’s ok to not be active in FA or have Allen and Grier drive us to the #1 pick. Clausen got us Cam and Weinke got us Peppers. Grier could get us Lawrence or Fields.

You lose the 2021 3rd for Bradberry. You lose up to $63M in cap space. You potentially hose yourself out a great QB class if 2021. You still suck enough that fans aren’t happy. You basically toss out Cam for a bridge QB. If you moved on from Cam and our D will be awful, then start Grier and guarantee yourself the top pick. If you don’t like Lawrence, get probably the biggest bounty of picks ever.

Oh well, just hope we stop signing FAs until after the draft or only if they’ve been released. Irvin signing at least gets us plus 1, Van Roten could be plus 2 and then maybe a Cockrell or Hogan or Williams can cancel Roberts. I think we’ll likely end up with just 1, maybe 2.

 That saved me a lot of time. And the safety situation is just strange. And I would have at least tried Reid at LB before just letting him go for nothing.  Once again the Safety position will be manned by average to below average talent.

Just looks like everything was poorly mishandled by Rhule, Hurney (who I think is just a walking puppet at this point) and tepper. Didn’t understand the hot/cold stance on the retention of Cam and I don’t understand the hot/cold stand on going with a full rebuild or retooling. We aren’t acquiring assets, all of our talent is walking for free, and we’re signing guys who maybe available after the draft who would count towards our comp picks that could have been used to fill the roster with potential young talent.

at this point, after the draft I might just check out until the trade deadline next season because this just reeks of too much ownership involvement

I am surprised but not shocked at Reids release. He was a hard hitter but a liability in coverage and someone who seemed to let his mouth get him in trouble at times. I like the fact that Teppers is letting the management make moves they feel need making instead of hanging onto the same old tired deadwood..

The Panthers have released safety Eric Reid, who was scheduled to count $8 million against the cap this season. He had two more years left on the three-year deal he signed last year. He will save the team $5.5 million in cap space with a post-June 1 designation. His statement on Twitter: "It’s been a pleasure Carolina! I enjoyed my time and the support I received from the fans, media, teammates, and staff there will be remembered. Looking forward to furthering my career in another city!"

ERIC REIDDB, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

The Houston Chronicle reports the Texans have had talks about signing free agent Eric Reid.

Reid was released by the Panthers last month but hasn't been linked to any teams. He has ties to Houston, where his brother Justin has been a starter the past two seasons. Reid struggled in coverage last year but had a career-high 130 tackles. He should resurface on a one-year deal.
