Tepper lost all credibility when retaining Hurney as GM

Can't say it enough - the MAJORITY of this fan base has lost all trust in this regime the moment they failed to hire a new GM and demote / fire Hurney.  The fact that he's in charge of "rebuilding" or "retooling" the team is absurd.  As a GM, he has never consistently put together a winning roster.  Somehow he's weaseled his way into good graces of Tepper.  We should start a Fan PETITION  to fire Hurney immediately.  Who's with me?

At this point getting rid of Hurney still leaves us with Tepper. Not sure we aren't fugged anyways.

On the bright side, most of the players I liked or cared about are gone so it won't feel so bad to watch it happen.

Little known fact ole Jerry Richardson stipulated in the sells contract of the team that both his statue AND Marty Hurney would be kept around. His last F U to all panther fans in the end. Thats why Tepper sings his praises despite his constant ability to poop out losing season after losing season and terrible moronic desicions.

Losing all the guys we've lost is hard and it sucks, but nothing lasts forever... except Marty Hurney apparently.  I wan't to be optimistic about the rebuild.  I want to believe in the process, I really do.   Having Hurney as a part of it makes it hard though.

lol at you if you think it’s Hurney that’s pulling all the strings right now

Perhaps not, but it's Hurney who's negotiating the contracts, evaluating talent, putting us in cap hell year after year

Not at all...only the future will determine that...not the past.

Actually you can say it too much and have. Since he is the GM and doesn't appear to be leaving, constant complaining about something you can't impact is annoying to all of us who get tired of the same old whining and bitching. Plus he is only doing what his owner and coaches want him to do. He is not the ultimate decision maker. From what I read, Rhule is

When Tepper kept Marty on, as well as Ron, I started to get very nervous that we weren't dealing with someone who knew much about what they were doing, or who really really followed football closely.

Deciding to keep Marty after Ron was let go was when I completely lost all faith in Tepper.

There have been more gaffes, but those two mistakes, especially the 2nd one, really make me nervous about the next 5 years for the team.

Wondering where all the "Tepper is a billionaire, I trust him over you" types that were around here only a couple months ago?

Yup bringing back Hurney made no damn no sense at all. This franchise makes us all mad every single damn time

    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
    • I said this ALL last season and will say it again this year. Our record means diddly squat this year, I don't care if we have 0 wins or 17 wins, I only care about one thing and one thing only. Bryce proves without a shadow of a doubt that he IS or ISN'T our long term solution at QB. It's the only thing that matters for the same reason it sucks that this is the same thing as last year.  This needs to be determined, and if they can't determine it, then it's still telling the team the answer, just not the one they want to hear. As right now we're in the ultimate QB purgatory, a position that dooms franchises for years.  Just look at a team like the Cardinals, who extended a better QB and it still screwed them over and haven't had a contending team in a long time. People get too caught up on wins and losses when evaluating players, particularly QBs.  When people look at the final record and use that as a reason to want to extend a QB or not is just a fools errand.  If we had lost 2-3 more games last year because we didn't make a last second FG, I genuinely wonder if we would have just moved on from Bryce this offseason (like we should have been doing anyways IMHO).
