Great players rarely make great coaches. But I just don't see Luke's dry personality translating well to the microphone. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.

Agreed, but what made Luke great was his football knowledge and attention to detail. Those are things that translate well to coaching.

Broadcasting though? Luke as a talking head doesn't make sense to me at all, especially after seeing his commercials.

Olsen's definitely got the necessary charisma and the gift of gab. Kuechly? Not so much.

The bar is pretty low for color commentary from what I've seen. Lukes insights would be great for a game. Couldn't be much worse than Moose and Barber's comments. Definitely won't be Romo or Chucky though.

He really must have been dealing with a lot if he already knew at last year's end. Yes he might not have been the best last year but he was still a top MLB. Not many lose the love of the game like that.

Hell, if Drew Brees can be practically handed a color commentary position before even retiring, I don't see why Luke can't take a crack at it. Luke may surprise us in the booth. I think he will do well.

Most players that want to coach still usually take a season or two off after retirement.  No shock that he didn't dive directly into a coaching position.  I, for one, completely expected this.
