This is the second time I've seen him state how much he loves to play press yet the Panthers always had him lined up 8 yards off the LOS. I'll never understand that...

Same here, but no matter who the DC has been, we always did it, makes me realize Rivera was always controlling that stuff. I feel like we could have had Patrick Peterson and still would have done the same poo

Maybe they felt if he did get beat in press coverage he lacked recovery speed.  He did note that people always doubted his speed.

Yep. He's honestly one of the best press corners in the league and we had him playing off coverage the vast majority of the time.

I still don’t understand why we didn’t bite the bullet and resign him.

I'd rather have Bradberry at 3 years/$45M than Shaq at 4 years/$54M. I still think we re-signed the wrong guy and I don't understand why we made that call before we had a new coaching staff.

The only thing that makes any sense is they had at least a inkling that Luke was going to retire.

Being so late in the season I feel chain of events that happened we’re likely; ->

Rivera was fired, it became obviously clear we weren’t going to be competitors anytime soon ->

Luke was probably “I’m done with the panthers after the season” ->

Shaq was probably “mhmmm free agency here I come get that big money” ->

Hurney goes into panic mode, gives Tepper the rationale sign Shaq now and can trade him after the season if needed ->

Shaq camps who I’m assuming had been putting feelers out mid/late in the season jumped on the opportunity to get a sizable contract from a panicked hurney. ->

Ends up with the 5th highest average contract at the position currently. Behind Wagner, Mosley, Jack & Jones. Which is listed as inside linebacker currently. If we go to 4-3 and he stays outside he will be the highest 4-3 outside LB.

I really don’t see us moving him to MLB either as we had brought him in to be the Thomas Davis replacement not the Luke replacement.
At least not if Rivera was still here. Can’t predict Rhules thinking as there is no professional “tape” on him.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
