The move I would make?  Nope.

But hardly any of the moves that the Panthers have made would be the way that I would do it.

May as well just roll with the punches at this point and try to make the best of it.

That's about it.

I doubt very many Panthers fan agree with most or even many of the moves this offseason but it is what it is. At this point all we can do is sit back and see what happens. I suspect it will either be a dramatic success or an unbelievable failure.

We're not making the moves that I would make. We don't have a QB who we can win the SB with imo, so until that changes we're just spinning our wheels. We'd have to build an elite defense and offense around Teddy to drag him to the SB, and we're rock bottom talent wise right now. We'd have to wait several seasons and have multiple home-run drafts to get to middle of the pack. This is not what I want. I want an elite QB so we don't have to build an all time great defense to have a shot at advancing in the playoffs.

The plan appears to be that we crawl our way slowly to middle of the pack, and then slowly try to build an elite team talent wise. My plan would be to draft the best QB prospect available and hope to hit a home run with him. You land an elite QB in this league and you don't need a crazy talented team to win the SB, or go on a playoff run. An elite QB on a hot streak can take you anywhere.

man that isnt how it works, you don't just "draft a quarterback" you have to build an entire team around him and have elite players at every single other position on the field first and then get the 1st pick in the draft THEN you can draft a quarterback, haven't you heard of David carr and stuff

Many of the fans that post here....die hards...are all over the place.  Most of the casual fans (I'm married to one, and most of my friends are VERY casual NFL fans) are perfectly fine with everything except for the Cam cutting.

They only rationalize next season....is Teddy better than Kyle?  Yes, good move.  Paying CMC?  Great move, I love him.  Etc...

I'm pretty frustrated by almost all of the moves that Tepper has made so far, but at this point I just have to sit back, understand that he probably doesn't have any idea what he is doing, and move on with my life.  Paid my Roaring Riot dues on Sunday, and will start planning my annual away game trip over the next couple weeks.

As to your dramatic success or unbelievable failure.....I do not think this will be a success, at least not for a while, and I'm 100% against the idea that it would be an unbelievable failure....I see that as a VERY real outcome....so it's not really unbelievable at all to me.  It will only get worse if we keep Marty around...it always has.

I’ll bite...

You’re the GM next Thursday for us...

What’re you doing on draft night?

I made the comment early on about the potential for Tepper to be Dan Snyder. I really never envisioned that would actually come to pass. This is gonna be tough.

Typical hiding behind a keyboard to insult others on their spelling.

If you're going to call someone a dumbass you might want to check your spelling and punctuation. Just saying ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can't figure out for the life of me why anyone would be upset by this signing. Name a single player we're committed to at the time of this signing on a long term contract. CMC is basically it at the moment.

Its been discussed all over both threads.  In short, we didnt need to extend him.  The CBA was in our favor in this instance.  We relinquished that advantage.

In a perfect world, sure. The reality is, he would have just held out and not played and just be another dead cap figure on our payroll.

RBs have the shortest shelf-life of any player in the NFL. Any good RB is going to threaten not to play his final year of his rookie contract without an extension.

The deal is good for CMC, and it's good for the Panthers. The mistake the Panthers can't make is being forced into another deal when CMC is closer to 30.
