Saints used a draft pick to spite the Panthers

oh yeah that playoff appearance where your team got a horrible grounding call at the end which all but cost us the game (however we didn't cry all offseason about it to get a rule changed, even though we didn't have another chance in OT) and cheered after cam took a helmet shot, who woulda thunk it?

By "Cam took a helmet shot" you mean when Newton went to escape a pressure only to circle out and run headfirst into David Onyemata's chest, right? That's not on Onyemata, that's on Newton. If Newton takes the sack from Davison he doesn't faceplant into Onyemata's chest. I've already debunked that myth several times on this board (including the one clown that was trying to claim that "we intentionally kicked Newton in the eye, LMAOOOOOO) and even included the video.

And if that "headshot" was as significant as you're claiming then why was Newton allowed to return to the game? Either concussion protocol wasn't followed and he was allowed to return to the game after a head injury or he was faking an injury and embellishing its severity by rolling around on the ground, pick a side the fence and stick with it.

As for the "y'AlL cHeErEd wHiLe oNe Of OuR guYs WaS dOwN", it was 3rd & 17. When Newton starting going to the sideline and then went to a knee, he did so ~5 yards from the sideline and y'all were backed up deep in y'all territory (at the 10-yard line). Unless you're sitting in that endzone and toward y'all sideline (sections 116-124 in the plaza), it wasn't clear anyone was down. Add in it occurring during the 4th quarter of a playoff game that had a late start and anyone that was even slightly inebriated definitely didn't notice. I sit catercorner to that spot in the Superdome and am entirely sober for every game and even I didn't see anyone down until I saw our own personnel run onto the field signifying a stoppage. I understand being a homer, but that's an Olympic-caliber stretch.

What a classless piece of poo.

Your sad ass fan base whines like their little head coach who obviously has a complex from his childhood of getting his ass kicked daily because he has the athletic ability of a toothpick.  And then he tries to use a situation like this to make sure he is really a cool kid by bragging about it to stroke his fragile little ego

But in reality the karma your organization has gotten over the past several years is exactly what it deserved.

And just remember karma will pay that whiny little mfer back for this one as well.

Also that picture is from 2017 so I'd say the piper has been paid for that one.

That is a very good point, hahaha.

The kind of stuff happens all the time. It honestly sounded pretty friendly between Peyton and Brady.

That's how I feel about the whole situation, just friendly banter. Nothing nefarious or underlying.

Had they not stopped answering the phone, it probably wouldn't have goaded Payton into trading back in for him.

We lost on the rights to a late round QB that won't even make the roster of the team that drafted him? Seems more like a joke and the Saints pissing away a late round pick. This is hilarious, the practice squad will be there when he is ready.

when did i at any point blame the DT for the helmet shot? i get that you're upset, but yeesh. never blamed onmeyata for the hit, it was obviously an accident. i did blame your stadium for cheering the hit while he was on the ground. given the history of your team and it's dirty practices though i can see why you'd immediately get so defensive and accuse me of saying it was a dirty hit. also, it's not at all a stretch considering if you watched it on live tv the stadium was cheering as he was down. even falcons fans called you out for it. i get that s*ints fans get upset when you point out double standards (which is why it's hilarious that you wrote two paragraphs in a fit of rage responding to what was a minor part of my post), but damn.

Not even close.  Our new owner is a ruthless mfer that has been known to get his way at all costs.  I hope he has filed this little Peyton childish move away for future retribution.
Iron Saint.  This will be the fate of organization when Tepper is done with you.

Its a pretty savvy move by Payton.  Clearly this kid was a priority UDFA for the Saints, and with one easy move they swung the leverage from the Panthers to themselves.  Its going to be interesting to see how they handle his situation going into the season.  In order to get him on the practice squad they will have to cut him first.

I so totally agree with you. Sean Payton and his ego are exactly why I hate the Saints so much.

I do feel sorry for Tommy Stevens. He'll lose the most from all of this in the end.

But DAMN folks!! You're missing the whole point here. rolling.gif.eaa774a76e4388ddb5887049fcabb0c7.gif

JOE BRADY HAS ALREADY GOTTEN UNDER PAYTON'S SKIN.

So much so in fact that he had to publicly brag about it and get the team in trouble with the NFL by admitting that he negotiated and talked UDFA $$$ during the draft. Maybe the Panthers did too, they claim they didn't, but if you're the agent wouldn't you throw out there some figures as if the Panthers had (even if they hadn't) to get the most for your client? I would. You're not doing your job if you don't.

And we haven't even played a game yet. Or stepped onto the turf. I'm loving it!!

Nah, nearly every one of my replies (including this one) are long winded because they’re well-thought out and I like to articulate my point, as you can tell by my impeccable grammar and sentence structure. Emotion has zero bearing on anything I post, but good try I suppose. Your name wouldn’t happen to be Reed Richards, would it? Because everything you’re claiming is a country mile stretch at the least.

But if you don’t believe it was intentional then what other possible motive would you have by bringing up “Cam taking a helmet shot”? Please elaborate, I’d like to see how much further you can stretch that claim.

And I don’t need to watch it on TV to know what happened, I was there in the 3rd row behind the Saints bench. The crowd was preparing for a 3rd & 17 with y’all backed up deep in your own territory, point blank. Moments after the trainers came onto the field, the crowd quieted to just above a murmur.

You also didn’t answer my previous question: if that “headshot” was as significant as you’re claiming, why was Newton allowed to return to the game? Either y’all violated concussion protocol or Newton was faking an injury. And if it wasn’t significant than who even cares if the crowd cheered a legal big hit? You’re backed into a corner, my guy.

And LMAOOOOOO, you think I care what sorry *** Falcons fans think? You might since y’all keep getting bent over by them every year but we’ve dragged that sad sack franchise for the last decade and a half.

Take your time with that reply, I’ve dragged far better posters than you on these very boards.

well you see, i don't take online forums seriously like you do. i don't sit in a dimly lit room for 30 minutes trying to articulate a response to someone on a forum either, so i'll pass on taking my time to formulate a reply, as i don't really care what a saints fan who spends his nights posting on a panthers forum thinks. you try to act all high and mighty about being able to "drag" posters when nobody cares, you just look pathetic for caring so much about a forum.

i don't even recall saying it was all that significant, you assumed that based on me saying headshot (which is why you came off very emotional to me, as people who are overly emotional tend to assume things based on shaky grounds). this is further backed up by the fact that you chose to ignore the rest of my post, and zeroed in on this one part of it and then proceeded to stretch it and act as if i was saying cam took some gruesome headshot. i only mentioned the helmet shot to mention your crowd cheering after it, and i used the falcons fansite as a mediator to show that it wasn't only panthers fans claiming this.

i was obviously wrong about this point (based on what you're telling me), and i'll happily concede i was off base. this was 2 years ago, and i don't nessicarily recall every specific down to the bone besides that one part of the game leaving a bad taste in my mouth. reading comprehension can't be this hard, but who am i kidding, you're just desperately grasping at straws in a poor attempt to make yourself look hard. no pressure dude, all love.

You might not care, but I'm pretty sure Payton does.

Payton tried to talk him out of leaving for LSU, told him he was "making a mistake" by taking that job.

Dont see them keeping 4 QBs, and if they put him on the PS we can just take him

The Panthers would have to put him on the active 53, or is it 55 now.  You can't sign players from practice squad to practice squad.

If you didn’t care then you wouldn’t be bickering back and forth with me, now would you? LOLOL. Nah I’m only teasing, but hey we’re simply passing time talking about something we’re both passionate about and hoping we get to watch again in a few months. We all miss football.

And while you didn’t explicitly say “significant”, bringing it up implies that notion and/or there was malice involved when it only occurred based on Newton’s actions. I simply picked apart the “headshot” claim as I’ve had multiple other times here (including the guy I mentioned that claimed Newton was intentionally kicked in the eye, LOLOLOL; that one still kills me that he actually typed that) since I had all the information handy without need to look it up.

As for the cheering aspect, trying to accurately judge what the crowd is doing through a broadcast is futile exercise. The sound coming through the TV is passed through so many filters, volume faders, and is also heavily dependent on microphone placement in the stadium and the audio engineer running the show. If one small pocket of fans that are all drunk af are seated near a hot mic, it’ll make it appear as though the entire stadium was cheering during the injury until the producer has them drop the volume. After nearly every game, we have threads on our own boards from fans that watched on TV chastising other posters that were in attendance and saying “wHaT ThE HeLL iS WrOnG WiTh ThE cRoWd, WhY WeReN’t yOu gUyS LoUd tOdAy??” Unless you were there, you just don’t know for sure. I haven’t seen one Panthers fan that was there (and can prove they were) upset about our fans cheering while Newton was down.

As for the rest of your other post you said I disregarded, the only other thing you mentioned was the intentional grounding call. I can admit it was a bit ticky-tack, but Newton wasn’t clearly outside the tackle box (of which the umpire and the referee are standing at the edges of) and y’all still had two shots at the end zone afterward.

I understand the sour taste, but it needs to be directed at y’all coaching staff who obviously didn’t learn anything from our first two games that year and came back to New Orleans with the same gameplan for a third time like it was magically going to work after failing spectacularly the first two times.

Maybe Payton looked into his crystal ball and it foretold of Brady’s successes at LSU that would ultimately result in him being hired by a team that has gone 6-18 over their last 24 games. Maybe that’s the “mistake” he means?
