Steve Smith's Top 5 Teammates

Recommended Posts

It isn't that surprising.

Pep is a first ballot HOF like he is, and probably the defensive counterpart Panthers GOAT.

Moose/Proehl were his positional biggest/best supporting cast/mentors in his career here.

Suggs got the Baltimore nod that he knew he'd have to throw in there.

Olsen was vocal and fiery when people didn't get their stuff together/know what was going on on the field, just like Smitty.

Gross was his teammate at Utah and they go way way back.

Hard to pick 5 for anyone.

He didn't pick Cam the same way he didn't pick Jake. I ain't mad at him for it.

When a legend (GOAT WR IN NFL HISTORY) talks, you listen and appreciate it.

Would have liked to have seen Jake, but did it to probably not stir up poo with Cam. Surprised to see

Surprised to Olsen and Suggs so high as he only played with them for what 2 or 3 years each?

Note that the question asked him to list the best players he played alongside. Being a great “teammate” in the locker room/leadership sense is only one aspect albeit one Smith would have a unique perspective on. Love Jake, but I think it’s fair to say he wasn’t of the same caliber of talent as the rest of the list.

nothing surprising about that list.

keep in mind, these are his top 5. i'm sure his top 10-15 would include some other names that people think should be there.

...and I seriously doubt newton would make his list at all. two different personalities from two different worlds. i just can't see the two of them being anything other than cordial to each other.

exactly, and on top of that he was only with cam for what 3 seasons? he'd probably put jake in over cam since he played with jake longer.

    • Yes, first drive was a good run, a sack and a 3/13 Bryce threw for 9.  Then we punted. 2nd drive - 23 yard deep pass to XL (who caught it) - Great pass by Bryce and good catch by XL 26 yard Chuba run - Great run by Chuba 3 yard Chuba run - moving the sticks 6 yard pass to XL (who caught it again) - moving the stick 26 yard run by Chuba - love a balanced attack!!! great run 1 yard run from Chuba - moving the sticks Incomplete pass by Bryce.  5 yard TD pass from Bryce. - Good job by Bryce in the red zone. This was a very good series early in the game where Bryce, Chuba and the team played very well. No turnovers by Bryce.  Chuba had a fumble in the 3rd. Next series: 4 yard run 24 yard pass 15 yard run 8 yard pass 1 yard run 2 yard run 3 yard pass 4 yard run 5 yard penalty Field goal good.   Bryce did not have a very good 2nd half but not horrible either.  He didn't make any mistakes that cost us the game.  He had a 24 yard scramble and a TD pass to Moore called back because because of an illegal formation. That was and is positive progress so soon after he was benched.  All around good team win and while Bryce didn't ball out he had a number of good throws and scrambles and didn't turn the ball over.
    • The defense doesn’t even matter, really.  When we are down 3 scores before anyone has taken their first sip of Gatorade because the offense won’t stay in the field, what does any of it matter?
